NFL Week 3 Teaser Picks
Jaguars -8.5 to -2.5
The winless Houston Texans will travel to Duval to take on the Jaguars, who are also coming off a loss in Week 2 to the Kansas City Chiefs. Jacksonville appears to have the stronger team on paper, and I predict that head coach Doug Pederson and quarterback Trevor Lawrence will score too many points for Houston to match on Sunday.
Furthermore, Jacksonville’s defense has been excelling at the beginning of the season, limiting the high-scoring Chiefs to only 17 points.
With all the changes to the Houston roster and coaching staff over the offseason, I am not putting as much importance on division familiarity. Jacksonville gets back on track in Week 3, but keep an eye out for Nico Collins to put up big numbers in garbage time.
Ravens -8 to -2
I find it surprising that the Ravens aren’t getting more recognition. Despite being considered a second-tier favorite in the Super Bowl odds, their road win against the Cincinnati Bengals last week should be more appreciated, regardless of Joe Burrow’s health status.
The Indianapolis Colts will play their second straight road game against their toughest opponent yet, the Baltimore Ravens. Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew is expected to start in place of the injured Anthony Richardson, who is sidelined with a concussion.
Minshew is not expected to significantly impact the Indianapolis offense, but he is also not likely to succeed in this upcoming road game. In a different matchup, Young Quigley is considering a Lamar Jackson passing statistic in his prediction for the Ravens-Colts game.
Analysis of NFL Week 3 odds in teaser picks
Avoid using FanDuel and BetMGM if you want to move the line six points at a lower cost. Instead, look for sportsbooks offering -120 teaser lines.
The odds of -120 offered by DraftKings, Caesars, and bet365 imply a favorable expected value of 4% and 5% compared to the odds at BetMGM and FanDuel.
As of Friday morning, FanDuel and BetMGM have Baltimore listed at -8.5, which is worth noting.
