In a rematch of Boston’s close 3-2 victory over Edmonton on Feb. 27, Connor McDavid and the Oilers will be facing off against David Pastrnak and the Bruins. Sports betting analyst Scott Cullen has shared his top NHL pick based on the most favorable NHL odds for this game.

When the Oilers face off against the Bruins on Thursday, fans may be treated to a preview of the Stanley Cup final.

As of Thursday, FanDuel Underscoreg has the Boston-Edmonton championship matchup listed at +1900, tied with several others as the second-most likely matchup behind Bruins-Colorado Avalanche (+1100).

These expectations may be high for an Edmonton team that has a record of 6-4-4 in their last 14 games and currently holds a wild card playoff spot with 78 points in 65 games.

The Bruins have dominated the season so far, winning 10 consecutive games. Boston currently holds the top spot in the standings with 103 points in 62 games, sitting comfortably 11 points ahead of second-place Carolina.

Below is our top pick for the Oilers vs. Bruins NHL game, with odds from FanDuel. Our confidence level is rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.

Oilers vs. Bruins pick

David Pastrnak is a +106 anytime goal scorer according to FanDuel, earning a four-star rating.

The NHL’s leading goal scorers face off in a highly anticipated matchup that headlines Thursday’s schedule.

McDavid is currently leading the Rocket Richard Trophy race with 54 goals, proving to be a formidable threat to score in any game and any arena. He has scored 25 goals in 32 road games, finding the back of the net in 19 of those matches.

The challenge for McDavid lies in facing the Bruins, who have an impressive 1.78 goals against average at TD Garden. This is over half a goal per game better than any other team in the league on their home ice, and is a key factor in the Bruins’ impressive 26-2-3 record in their home games.

Additionally, the payout for a McDavid anytime goal is another factor to consider. Although FanDuel’s -104 odds are more favorable for bettors compared to other matchups, I believe this number is not sufficient when facing a historically strong Boston defense.

By opting for Pastrnak against the Oilers instead of the original matchup, we improve our odds and have a more favorable matchup.

Pastrnak has scored a total of 44 goals, with 23 of those coming in 31 home games, where he has scored at least one goal in 19 of those games. The key matchup is Pastrnak facing off against the Oilers, who have a 3.35 goals against average on the road, ranking them 20th in the league.

Both snipers are poised to score, but Pastrnak offers better value as he faces a weaker defensive team.

Three out of the top five sportsbooks are offering odds of -120 for Pastrnak to score anytime. This highlights the exceptional value of the FanDuel odds, and since my own odds for a Pastrnak goal are also at -120, it’s too good of an opportunity to ignore.
