In 2026, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are reigniting their historic rivalry this Friday. We are excited to present our player props for the Yankees vs. Red Sox matchup, featuring the top MLB odds.

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are finally meeting for the first time in 2026 on June 14th at 6:30 p.m. ET in Fenway Park.

This means we will be seeing a lot of this historic rivalry in the coming months. The AL East powerhouses will face off in three three-game series before July comes to a close.

Both teams are in good form, with the Red Sox particularly impressive after winning two out of three games against the Philadelphia Phillies, who have the second-best record in MLB. The Yankees hold the best record at 49-22 and are second in our World Series odds, winning four of their last five games. They lead the league in run differential at plus-127, well ahead of the Phillies at plus-103.

Luis Gil falls short of 6.5 strikeouts with a rating of four stars.

Luis Gil is quickly making a name for himself in the MLB, and it’s no surprise that he is the favorite to win Rookie of the Year in the American League. Despite a slight setback in his last game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he allowed three earned runs in just over five innings, Gil had been dominant in his previous seven outings. Even the best pitchers struggle against the powerful Dodgers lineup, so Gil’s performance should not be discounted.

Despite having an impressive overall strikeout rate of 10.8 per nine innings, some standout performances have inflated Gil’s total strikeouts to 90 already. This has led to our top sportsbooks setting aggressive lines for his strikeout totals. Gil recorded 14 strikeouts against the struggling Chicago White Sox, but has fallen short of 6.5 strikeouts in eight of his 13 starts in 2026, including his last two outings.

The Red Sox have been striking out a lot, ranking third in the league for strikeouts. However, in their recent series against the Phillies, who have the most strikeouts by their starting pitchers in MLB, Boston batters were only struck out eight times over three games.

While Gil may have a strong performance on Friday, the number of strikeouts expected from him seems too high. Pinnacle, known for its reputable trading teams in sports betting, has set the Under 6.5 at a low -152. Juan Soto is predicted to have over 1.5 total bases.

Resisting the temptation to return to this well before facing Red Sox Starter Brayan Bello is difficult.

He has been facing challenges and is currently on track for his worst career ERA of 4.78, a number that has increased significantly in his recent performances. In his last two games, he allowed five runs to the White Sox and four to the Detroit Tigers, whose offense is ranked 18th. His opponents’ batting average in those games was a high .362. This comes after Bello had a 5.66 ERA in May.

As expected, his performance worsens significantly when facing left-handed batters, with an .818 OPS surrendered compared to a .678 OPS against right-handed batters.

In the meantime, Soto has been hitting everything in sight and currently boasts the second-best OPS in MLB at 1.025. His Baseball Savant page is filled with red highlights, particularly his expected slugging percentage which ranks in the top 1% leaguewide at .654. Despite his impressive performance, Soto’s actual slugging percentage is slightly lower at .592, indicating that he is underperforming relative to expectations. This discrepancy is both impressive and intimidating.
