Grey Cup predictions
Favorite: Blue Bombers
The Blue Bombers are clear favorites to win the Grey Cup this CFL season due to their strong offensive lineup. No other team in the league returns as much offensive talent as Winnipeg. With starting QB Zach Collaros, who has won two of the last three CFL Most Outstanding Player awards, leading the way, the Blue Bombers are in a strong position to succeed. Collaros is widely considered the best passer in the league, especially with Kelly suspended.
Having All-Star talent surrounding him is definitely a plus. Winnipeg has the league’s leading rusher and the Most Outstanding Canadian in Brady Oliveira, as well as their top four receivers returning. Among them are All-Star pass-catchers Dalton Schoen and Nic Demski. This high-powered offense led the league in both yards per game (431.4) and points per game (33.0).

With a healthy season ahead, Adams has the potential to become an even greater threat in his second full season with BC. He will have the talented targets of Keon Hatcher and Alexander Hollins, who both exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in 2023.
Even though Mathieu Betts is now in the NFL, the defense of the CFL’s Lions remains one of the stronger units in the league. Head coach Rick Campbell has successfully revamped the team, achieving back-to-back 12-win seasons. Having led the Ottawa Redblacks to a Grey Cup victory in 2016 as underdogs, Campbell knows what it takes to win the championship.

Long shot: Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have a roster filled with high-profile players such as two-time Grey Cup MVP Bo Levi Mitchell, two-time CFL All-Star Tim White, and two-time 1,000-yard rusher James Butler. Despite having such talent, Hamilton’s status as a contender is questioned due to Mitchell’s performance not being up to his usual standards since the 2020 season was canceled.
Nonetheless, the Tiger-Cats have a more straightforward route to the Grey Cup compared to the revamped Saskatchewan Roughriders and rejuvenated Edmonton Elks. Despite the Argos missing Kelly and the Redblacks struggling, Hamilton could pose a threat if Mitchell remains injury-free.
The Tiger-Cats strengthened their defense during the offseason by adding All-Star Casey Sayles and former Argos Jamal Peters, Brandon Barlow, and Dewayne Hendrix. Head coach Scott Milanovich, who won the Grey Cup with Toronto in 2012, could provide the team with the boost they require.

The next tier includes the Roughriders, Argos, Tiger-Cats, and Elks. Each team has uncertainties to address, particularly the Toronto team, which is hard to predict with Kelly suspended after winning the 2023 Most Outstanding Player award. Saskatchewan is intriguing with new head coach Corey Mace and the arrival of A.J. Ouellette, but the key for them is for Trevor Harris to stay injury-free.
The Tiger-Cats are in a similar position, relying on Mitchell’s health in Milanovich’s inaugural year. On the other hand, the Elks are aiming for a strong comeback after a disappointing 4-14 season in 2023, with the addition of McLeod Bethel-Thompson at QB expected to make a significant impact.
Both the Redblacks and Calgary Stampeders appear to be facing challenging seasons. Ottawa has chosen former Bombers backup Dru Brown as their starting quarterback, who has shown promise but lacks experience.
