Best Maine Sports Betting Apps: Collect Generous Sign-Up Bonuses

It took a while, but legal Maine sports betting apps have officially launched in the Pine Tree State. It was an 18+ month journey from when Governor Janet Mills approved LD 585, making retail and online sports betting legal. On November 3, 2023, a pair of the best sports betting apps went live in Maine.
Each of the state’s four federally recognized native tribes can partner with a single sports betting company. Three are linked to Caesars, and the fourth with DraftKings, meaning only two sports betting apps arrived in Maine on Day One.

Top Maine sports betting apps reviewed

Maine will restrict each of its four federally recognized tribes to partnering with one existing sports betting company, resulting in a maximum of four betting apps allowed to operate in the state.

The Wabanaki tribes, consisting of three out of four tribes, have partnered with Caesars Underscoreg, while the fourth tribe has made a deal with DraftKings. As a result, only two sportsbook apps were launched on Day One in Maine.

The Sports Betting Alliance, consisting of FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and Fanatics, had voiced their dissatisfaction with the revenue-sharing model proposed between the operators and tribes. Currently, only DraftKings has applied for and been granted a license in Maine.

There is always the possibility of change. Business deals can end or expire frequently. It is still possible that Maine may welcome new online sportsbooks in the future. With this in mind, we have evaluated five of the top sportsbooks nationwide, such as Caesars and DraftKings, in anticipation of potential sports betting apps coming to Maine.

1. DraftKings Maine betting app

DraftKings consistently stands out as one of the top betting apps, thanks to its superior selection of betting options, particularly in micro and futures betting for major sports.

Additionally, DraftKings offers some distinctive features such as the Stats Hub, a data-driven tool that allows users to analyze statistics and make informed decisions based on trends and elements, as well as Pools, which provides various pari-mutuel betting competitions.

The application operates seamlessly on Apple and Android devices, with regular updates to ensure optimal performance. Currently, all DraftKings users have the opportunity to receive a No Sweat Bet token by placing an NBA same-game parlay each day of the playoffs. Certain odds restrictions and betting limits may apply.

A large number of sports fans from Maine support professional teams in neighboring states or Canadian provinces. The Montreal Canadiens of the NHL and the Boston Red Sox of the MLB are particularly popular among Maine fans.

How to choose the best Maine sports betting app

With a choice of up to four Maine betting apps (with only two available on launch day), selecting the perfect one for you should not be too challenging. However, it is important to conduct a thorough analysis to determine the best fit for your individual betting preferences. Here are some factors to consider before making your final decision.

User experience

Observe the app’s functionality as you navigate through it. There may be instances where you need to place a quick bet, so it’s important that the app is fast and doesn’t require excessive navigation steps.

Interface

Having a user-friendly interface is essential for creating a positive user experience. It should be simple to switch between different sports and markets, the design of the bet slip should be efficient, and the app should be visually appealing without compromising clarity and readability.

Features

Underscoregs attract bettors by providing unique features that enhance their experience and assist them in developing successful betting strategies.

DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars each offer unique features like Stats Hub, Parlay Hub, and Loyalty Rewards program, respectively. These tools enhance the betting experience and it is up to you to decide which features are most valuable to you.

Bet types

All sportsbooks provide basic betting options such as moneylines and spreads, but for more unique and exotic wagering opportunities like predicting the next play or total regular season wins for a team, choose a sportsbook with a wide range of market selections.

Payout speed

Do you want to start enjoying your winnings soon? Make sure to review the betting app’s payment policy to find out how quickly you can expect the money to be deposited into your bank account. Fortunately, Caesars and DraftKings both have a payout time of 24 hours, making them among the fastest payout sportsbooks on our list.

Banking options

Review the variety of banking options, deposit and withdrawal limits, and important regulations when considering online betting apps in the U.S. While payment policies and methods are generally consistent, small differences could impact your choice.

Registering an account

Regardless of the betting app you choose, the registration process will be similar. It should be quick and easy, allowing you to start betting without any significant delays.

Importance of multiple apps and line shopping

One smart suggestion is to download all available Maine betting apps. With up to four operators permitted in the state, there’s no harm in exploring all options. It’s completely legal and won’t occupy much storage on your phone.

Currently, there are only two choices: Caesars and DraftKings. It is recommended that you utilize both options to find the best value for your bets.

Using multiple betting apps allows you to compare lines and odds to find the best value. For instance, DraftKings might have the Boston Celtics at -150 to beat the New York Knicks on the moneyline, while Caesars could offer the same bet at -140. By having accounts on both platforms, you can quickly switch between them to take advantage of the most profitable opportunities.

Maine sports betting apps rules and regulations

In Maine, the sports betting law permits the operation of retail and online sportsbooks, albeit with certain limitations.

There are four federally recognized Native American tribes in Maine (the Aroostook Band of Micmacs, Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, Passamaquoddy Tribe, and Penobscot Nation) who are the exclusive license holders for sports betting partnerships. Additionally, up to ten retail sportsbooks can open at existing brick-and-mortar casinos, commercial racetracks, and off-track betting facilities in the state.

Only Caesars and DraftKings were the two sportsbook apps that went live when online sports betting was introduced in Maine.

In Maine, individuals must be at least 21 years old to place bets and wagering on college games involving in-state teams is not allowed. However, betting on out-of-state games is permitted. Additionally, specialty betting markets such as politics and entertainment awards are prohibited in Maine, similar to regulations in other states.

In order to make an online bet, you must be physically present in Maine or in a state where the sportsbook is authorized to operate, even if there is no specific app available for that state.
