I have to be honest, I’m not a big fan of the Mercury team. While they have a lot of talent in their rotation, their defense is below average and they have trouble winning games away from home.
Facing an opponent like Dallas makes it easier to forgive their struggles this season. Even with Arike Ogunbowale and Natasha Howard back, the Wings are coming off two losses to the Seattle Storm by a total of 45 points.
To provide context for their recent struggles, the Wings have been averaging a deficit of 11.9 points per game since May 31, the lowest in the league. Their latest defeat came at the hands of the Washington Mystics, who have only four wins this season, with a total margin of 36 points. In their last 12 losses, they have all been by seven points or more.
