There is no better NBA Finals matchup than the one between the top team in the league and the top player. We will witness this clash tonight as the Boston Celtics take on Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks at TD Garden, with the game starting at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Throughout the postseason, the Celtics have consistently been the top pick in the NBA championship odds. They are now 6.5-point favorites against the Mavericks in Game 1. Given their abundance of talent, it’s no surprise that we are backing the favorites in our NBA Finals odds and betting preview.

Nevertheless, it would be unwise to underestimate Doncic, whose odds of winning the NBA Finals MVP have dramatically increased in recent weeks. He is currently the top-ranked player in our NBA Finals MVP predictions. Should he have a stellar performance in Game 1, it could lead to an upset victory for the Mavericks.

In addition to our expert predictions for the NBA Finals and Mavericks vs. Celtics parlay, we are sharing our top player props and NBA picks for the Mavericks vs. Celtics game.

Predictions for prop bets in today’s Mavericks vs. Celtics matchup.

Jayson Tatum is expected to have more than 15.5 rebounds and assists, earning a four-star rating.

Regardless of how Game 1 of the NBA Finals unfolds for Jayson Tatum, it is guaranteed that there will be a discussion on First Take about whether the Boston Celtics truly belong to Jaylen Brown or if Tatum is missing the killer instinct displayed by iconic players like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

Tatum has been instrumental in Boston’s success this postseason, leading the team in scoring, rebounds, and assists. His dominance on the glass and ability to let others shine has been key to their 12-2 playoff record and appearance in the Finals.

He has achieved at least 16 combined rebounds and assists in 10 out of 14 playoff games this year. Dallas has given up an average of 15.36 combined rebounds and assists per game to opposing power forwards this season.

Our odds converter indicates a win probability of 51.22%, meaning a $10 bet would result in a $9.52 profit.

Luka Doncic is projected to score over 40.5 points and assists with a four-star rating.

There is no stopping him, only containing him is possible.

Doncic exemplifies Dan Patrick’s old saying better than most players. Despite dealing with a knee injury during the playoffs, Doncic still managed to put up All-Star level statistics.

Boston has the third-ranked defense in the NBA, allowing 111.6 points per game. However, coach Joe Mazzulla is aware that Luka Doncic will still put up impressive stats. Doncic’s improved 3-point shooting, strong mid-range game, and incredible lob passes suggest he will have a standout performance in Game 1 for the Mavericks.

Doncic’s performance against the top-ranked Minnesota Timberwolves was impressive, averaging a total of 40.6 points and assists in five games. He surpassed 40.5 in three of those games. The odds suggest a 51.92% chance that he will exceed this mark, with a successful $10 bet resulting in a payout of $19.26.

Kyrie Irving’s total points, rebounds, and assists under 31.5 ⭐⭐⭐

Boston is known for its hostility towards players, and Kyrie Irving has definitely earned their anger. He broke his promise to stay in Boston and created a “super team” in Brooklyn. To make matters worse, he stomped on Lucky the Leprechaun at half-court and flipped off the Boston crowd upon his return.

The heightened tension of Kyrie facing off against Boston adds an extra layer of excitement to the NBA Finals. Despite his impressive showing in the Western Conference Finals, I anticipate Irving will have a tough time against the Celtics. Boston’s defense held shooting guards to an average of 31.52 PRA during the season, and with Derrick White, one of the top defensive guards in the league, leading the charge, Irving may find it challenging to find his usual scoring rhythm.

I predict that Irving will have a performance similar to his struggles in the second round against the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he only averaged 15.7 points. The odds suggest a 49.50% chance of winning, with a $10 bet resulting in a payout of $20.20.

The most favorable odds are +102 at DraftKings.
