Saint Joseph’s is a 2.5-point underdog against VCU, with the odds at -106 on FanDuel. This game is rated four stars.
Saint Joseph’s is the first No. 9 seed or lower to reach the A-10 semifinals since 2017. Their victories over Villanova and Princeton in non-conference play, along with a close overtime loss to Kentucky, demonstrate that the Hawks can compete with some of the top teams in the nation.
Saint Joseph’s quarterfinal chances against Richmond depended heavily on the status of leading scorer Erik Reynolds after he injured his elbow in the previous game. Fortunately, Reynolds appeared to be in good health as he scored 30 points against Richmond. Despite squandering a halftime lead in their sole regular season matchup with VCU, the Hawks showcased strong defense against the Spiders, holding them to their second-lowest scoring output of the season at 61 points. Therefore, we are confident in supporting Saint Joseph’s as underdogs in this matchup.
