The NFL’s Week 9 comes to a close with the Los Angeles Chargers facing off against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. We provide our top prediction for the Chargers vs. Jets game, supported by the most favorable NFL odds available.

The Los Angeles Chargers ended their two-game losing streak in Week 8 with a dominant 30-13 victory over the Chicago Bears at home. This win, their first by a double-digit margin this season, could be a turning point for the team as they transitioned from close one-possession games to back-to-back wins with margins of 14 points or more.

The New York Jets, with a record of 4-3, have shown a strong defense during a three-game winning streak, holding their opponents to an average of only 15 points per game. They are now preparing for their third prime-time home game, having defeated the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 and suffered a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.

His perfect start included completing his first 11 passes, which Next Gen Stats calculated to have a completion percentage of 5.8%.

Herbert will face increased pressure in the upcoming game compared to the Chicago match. However, his skill in quickly throwing short passes should counter the Jets’ pass rush. In the game against the Bears, Herbert successfully completed 27 of 30 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns with an impressive 8.2% completion percentage over expected (CPOE) on passes under 10 air yards. Despite averaging only 4.9 air yards per attempt, he achieved a season-high 60% success rate according to Next Gen Stats.

Herbert has a strong track record of winning when his defense holds opponents to fewer than 28 points, with a win percentage of .785 in those games. The New York Jets have struggled to score 23 or more points in a game this season, making it likely that the Los Angeles Chargers will have success on the road this week. The Jets’ recent performance against the Giants, where they struggled to move the ball and convert on third downs, does not bode well for their ability to exploit the Chargers’ struggling defense. Los Angeles has been near the bottom of the league in several key defensive categories, making it unlikely that the Jets will be able to capitalize on their weaknesses.

Our top sports betting apps all agree that the Chargers are three-point road favorites. Some shops are charging extra (DraftKings at -112, FanDuel at -115) to bet on Los Angeles. The Chargers started as -2 or -2.5 favorites on Monday morning, but by Monday afternoon, the line had moved to -3 at all shops and has stayed the same since. Despite the Jets being 1-5 ATS in their last six games following an overtime contest, they are receiving slightly more of the point spread wagers (55%).

Although both DraftKings and FanDuel offer a 41.5-point total for the game, DraftKings (-112) and FanDuel (-115) have higher juice for betting on the Under. Despite DraftKings initially increasing their total from 42 to 42.5 on Monday morning, all line movement has been in favor of the Under, eventually settling back down at 41.5.
