The Bengals’ offense has had a rough start, resulting in Ja’Marr Chase only gaining 70 receiving yards in his first two games. He has been held to under 40 receiving yards in each game so far. Chase will now face a Rams defense that has not allowed a wide receiver to surpass this yardage in either of their games. Deebo Samuel of the 49ers had the best performance with 63 receiving yards in Week 2.
Chase has faced the Rams just once in his career, recording 89 receiving yards in the Super Bowl two seasons ago.

The Rams have held opponents to an average of just 9.1 yards per reception this season, dropping to 5.9 yards on the road. Additionally, they have only allowed two receptions of at least 24 yards in their two games.

In the Bengals’ 2026 season opener against Cleveland, Chase made his first catch of the season on the team’s third play from scrimmage. In contrast, in the previous week’s game against Baltimore, he wasn’t targeted at all during Cincinnati’s four-play opening drive. Throughout the regular season last year, Burrow only completed a pass to Chase on their first drive three times. However, in all three of their playoff games, the young wide receiver managed to make an early reception.
Fortunately, he is set to play against a Los Angeles defense that gave up four receptions to three different receivers in their Week 1 matchup against Seattle, such as Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. In the next game, the Rams allowed Brock Purdy to complete six passes on the opening drive, with both Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk making catches for the 49ers.
