The Edmonton Oilers staged a comeback from a two-goal deficit against the Dallas Stars in Game 4, evening the Western Conference Final series at two games each and sending it back to Dallas. We have you covered with our predictions for Friday’s Game 5, based on the top NHL odds available.

In a similar fashion to the Dallas Stars’ comeback win in Game 3, the Edmonton Oilers rallied from a two-goal deficit to secure a 5-2 victory in Game 4 just two days later. The series is now tied, setting up a best-of-three matchup with Game 5 scheduled for Friday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The game will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT.

In Game 4, Oilers captain Connor McDavid continued his impressive postseason scoring streak by notching three assists. As a result, he remains a top contender for the Conn Smythe Trophy, currently leading all playoff scorers with 28 points in only 16 games.

The Dallas Stars were unable to maintain their strong start in Game 4, leading to their second defeat on the road in the playoffs. However, despite this setback, the Stars are still favored to win Game 5 and have the second-best odds to win the Stanley Cup.

Below are our top predictions for the Oilers vs. Stars matchup, along with our NHL picks and odds from our top NHL betting sites. Our confidence level for each pick is rated on a scale from 1 to 5 stars.

Predictions for Friday’s game between the Oilers and Stars.

Under 6.5 goals ⭐⭐⭐

Games 3 and 4 in Edmonton went over the total, while Games 1 and 2 in Dallas had five and four goals, respectively. The Stars’ three home games against the Colorado Avalanche in the previous round also went over, with all three road games seeing six goals or fewer. Despite the inconsistency, three out of four Game 5s in the previous round had five goals or fewer.

Game 5 is the most crucial of the series, with the winner advancing most of the time. Despite Chris Tanev’s injury, both teams will be focused on defense, leading to a lower-scoring game. The prop bet is a 3-star wager with reduced odds and potential profit. A $10 bet at -150 odds will pay out $6.67.

The most favorable odds are -150 at Betway.

Under 55.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I am more intrigued by this specific prop than a beachfront happy hour. In the Western Conference Final, the Stars are averaging 25.5 shots per game and the Oilers 31.5. These overall statistics may be slightly misleading. Only Game 1, which went to double-overtime, had Over 55.5 shots. I predict that there will not be much room for shots in Game 5, and there may not be many power-play opportunities based on the rest of the series so far. The Oilers have had six power-play attempts, while the Stars have been on the man advantage nine times.

In the past three games, Jake Oettinger has been facing an average of 12.7 shots in the first period. However, I anticipate a stronger start from the Stars in the upcoming game, which should result in fewer early shots from the Oilers. Betting $10 could yield a profit of $8.62, with odds implying a 53.70% probability of success.

The most favorable odds are -116 from Betway.

Connor McDavid is projected to have over 3.5 shots on goal with a four-star rating.

Lately, Connor McDavid has been focusing more on shooting rather than passing, even taking shots when he knows it could lead to an assist. In Game 4, he demonstrated this approach by using Oettinger like a backboard, setting up Evan Bouchard for a perfect rebound opportunity.

In three out of four Western Conference Final games, McDavid has exceeded expectations with six shots in Game 3 and five in Game 4. Despite limited space in Game 5, McDavid’s exceptional skill allows him to create opportunities even with tight coverage. With +100 odds indicating a 50% chance of success, a $10 bet could result in a $10 profit.

Top odds: +100 on Betway

Jamie Benn is expected to score at least 1 point. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Jamie Benn’s desire to win his first Stanley Cup is clear, even more so than my passion for Game 5s. The Dallas Stars captain has been on fire, recording at least one point in five consecutive games, with six points in the last three alone. His line has been generating the most scoring opportunities for the team, and it’s worth noting that none of his six recent points have come on the power play.

Benn has scored in eight of the last 10 games and will be eager to continue the streak. With odds at -118, a $10 bet could earn a profit of $8.47. This indicates a 54.13% chance of winning.

Betway offers the best odds at -118.
