The Edmonton Oilers are back home after falling into a hole so deep it could rival a subway station, as we analyze the Panthers vs. Oilers Stanley Cup Final Game 3 and make our prediction using the latest NHL odds.

Although not a do-or-die situation, the Edmonton Oilers will have a greater opportunity to win Euro 2024 rather than the Stanley Cup Final if they lose Game 3 in Edmonton. The Florida Panthers defeated the Oilers 4-1 in Game 2 and now bring their 2-0 series lead to Edmonton for Game 3, which kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday (ABC).

The Oilers are the top pick at Betway and our top sports betting sites for Game 3, while the Panthers are heavily favored to win their first Stanley Cup according to the odds.

In our analysis of the Panthers vs. Oilers Game 3, we believe the Oilers are poised for a strong comeback performance. We have examined key player matchups and potential outcomes through our Panthers vs. Oilers player props and parlay predictions.

Oilers ML ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have to address something right away. It bothers me that the Oilers are favored at -135 despite being behind 0-2 in the Stanley Cup Final. Home-ice advantage is important, but it shouldn’t be so heavily weighted.

After venting about that bugbear, I will still support the Oilers. Why? Because they are playing at home, are as determined as geese flying south in winter, and are too talented to lose three consecutive playoff games, even against a nearly unbeatable Florida team.

The Oilers last experienced three consecutive playoff defeats in the 2021-22 Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche. A change of environment, similar to geese migrating south, could be just what the Oilers need to reset. Rogers Place, where they boasted the second-best regular-season home record alongside the New York Rangers, could be the perfect place for this reset.

The Oilers are in need of home-cooked meals.

The Oilers began the postseason with a 2-2 record, but have since won four of their last five games, including two consecutive victories at their home arena, Rogers Place, known for its lively and energetic atmosphere.

The Panthers have a strong road record in the postseason, winning six out of eight games. This will make the challenge even tougher for Kris Knoblauch and his team. However, Knoblauch may benefit from having the last change, which could help in keeping Connor McDavid away from his shadow, the effective Aleksander Barkov.

If Barkov is able to recover from his Game 2 injury in time to play in Thursday’s crucial game, McDavid will be banking on the last change to work as effectively as a flawless exorcism, freeing the Oilers’ captain from his opponent’s grasp.

The best odds are -135, available through Betway.

The Oilers have a 6-3 record at home and a 6-5 record on the road in the 2024 playoffs. However, their performances at home and away do not accurately reflect the difference in their play. With the exception of Game 6 against the Dallas Stars, the Oilers show a more fluid and creative style on home ice. Players like McDavid and Bouchard are particularly productive, as are many of the team’s forwards.

Although coming back from a 0-2 series deficit may seem like a daunting task, I have confidence that the Oilers will demonstrate their strength on home ice once again. I anticipate that Edmonton will deliver their most impressive performance in the Stanley Cup Final yet, leading them to their first victory on this stage since 2006.
