Once we have given our predictions for the four teams in the highly skilled AFC East, we shift our focus to analyzing the division as a whole. Take a look at our AFC East betting preview, which is based on the most favorable NFL odds available.

For the third consecutive year, the Buffalo Bills were the dominant team in the AFC East, securing another division title last season.

While the New York Jets had a promising start, they ended up with a disappointing 7-10 record and finished in last place due to inadequate quarterback performance. Nevertheless, a new leader has emerged.

Is Aaron Rodgers capable of taking the Jets to the top of the AFC East? Will the Bills continue to dominate the division for the fourth consecutive year? Or could the Miami Dolphins emerge as the frontrunners to beat?

Take a look at our 2026 AFC East betting preview, utilizing the odds from our top NFL betting sites and rating our confidence level on a scale from 1 to 5 stars.

Miami Dolphins to win AFC East (+300) ⭐⭐⭐

Updated odds as of Thursday, August 31st

Jets+270 +250+250+250+240 ❄️
Dolphins+300+290 ❄️+300+300+300

The success of this bet, like many Dolphins futures, hinges on Tua Tagovailoa’s durability. Miami was a top team in the league until injuries sidelined their quarterback. In the first nine games that Tua started last season, they boasted an impressive 8-1 record.

My prediction is that the Dolphins will end the season with approximately 10 wins, making it challenging to win the division (although I expect the Bills and Jets to also finish with a similar number of wins). This pick is based on Miami’s potential for success.

Having a fit Tua, along with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and the running back tandem of Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr., could potentially propel the Dolphins to being the top offense in the NFL by the end of the 2026 season. Furthermore, the defense, which had its difficulties towards the end of the previous season, should see improvements with another offseason under Mike McDaniel’s coaching staff.

In our Bills betting preview, I predict Buffalo will come in second place in the division. While the Jets are a tempting choice, I believe the Dolphins offer better value with a potential ceiling as high as New York’s, giving them an edge of 30 points.

DraftKings, Caesars, and bet365 all have the Dolphins listed at the same price to win the division, so you can choose any of them except BetMGM.

Tua Tagovailoa to lead AFC East in passing yards (+350 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐

Current odds as of Thursday, August 31st.

Once more, our hopes are pinned on Tua playing more games this season compared to last year. The belief is that McDaniel sees Tua as the Dolphins’ long-term quarterback, and the coaching staff has likely focused on improving his ability to avoid injuries. It may all be wishful thinking, but let’s analyze the statistics regardless.

NumberFire predicts that Tua will end the season with 4,460.31 passing yards, ranking him fifth among all quarterbacks, assuming he plays all 17 games. On the other hand, ESPN’s Mike Clay adjusts for two missed games in his projection and still forecasts Tua to throw for 3,886 passing yards.

NumberFire predicts that Bills quarterback Josh Allen will end the season with 4,555.30 passing yards, while Clay’s projection is slightly lower at 4,179 passing yards. DraftKings has Allen as the favorite at -130 to lead the AFC East in passing, a fitting odds given his expected performance.

Nevertheless, we are putting our money on Tua due to the value. Despite NumberFire projecting Rodgers to finish with 4,098.44 passing yards this season, DraftKings has him at +250.

So, considering that Tua’s projected yards in 17 games is only slightly lower than Allen’s and significantly higher than Rodgers’, the +350 odds at DraftKings offer excellent value, especially when compared to FanDuel’s odds.

Tua is fortunate to have two of the top wide receivers in the game as his targets, with one of them being my choice for AFC Offensive Player of the Year in my Dolphins betting preview.

Buffalo Bills to be last undefeated team (+800 via Caesars) ⭐⭐

Buffalo is poised for a strong start this season, facing the Jets in Week 1 as one of their few early challenges. The Bills have a favorable schedule with seven winnable games before their Week 9 matchup against the Bengals.

If the Jets struggle early with Rodgers at the helm, the Bills have a good chance of starting the season 8-0. After Week 1, they will play at home against the Las Vegas Raiders, Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and away games against the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots.

AFC East team to win Super Bowl (+400 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐

The current odds are as of Thursday, August 31st.

+380+400+350

We are placing our bet on the AFC East, which I believe is the strongest division in the NFL. Three of the top 10 teams with the best Super Bowl odds, according to our top sports betting apps, come from the AFC East, the highest number of any division.

Like all Super Bowl bets, there is a chance that the Kansas City Chiefs could spoil our plans, which is why bet365 has the AFC West as the frontrunner in this market. Nonetheless, as with our other wagers, this one is focused on the numbers.

If you’re thinking about placing a bet on the AFC West, your best bet would be on the Chiefs. Likewise, if you’re considering a wager on the NFC East, the Philadelphia Eagles would be the smarter choice, as their odds are much longer at top sports betting sites compared to the +380 available for the division.

In the AFC East, the presence of three strong contenders makes betting on this group more enticing than backing just one team. The underdog status of the division only adds to the appeal.
