This weekend, NASCAR is back in Las Vegas for the third race of the season. Our Pennzoil 400 predictions are informed by the top NASCAR odds at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from our top sports betting platforms.

After two consecutive NASCAR superspeedway races filled with major crashes and close finishes, we now head to a more traditional 1.5-mile track in Las Vegas for Sunday’s Pennzoil 400.

Because this type of race is somewhat more predictable, the odds among the top 10 drivers show less variation. Furthermore, betting strategies will focus more on track records and driver lineage.

In the previous race, Hendrick Motorsports swept the podium with all three drivers standing on the steps. In the 2022 event, Alex Bowman took first place and Kyle Larson finished in second.

Below are our predictions for the Pennzoil 400 race taking place on Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Our selections are based on the NASCAR odds from the top sports betting apps, and our confidence level for each pick is rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.

Pennzoil 400 field

This week, there are 37 drivers in the field. Larson is the sole driver with multiple wins at this track in the last six races. Logano and Hamlin are the only non-Hendrick Motorsports drivers who have won at Las Vegas in that time frame.

Kyle Busch and Noah Gragson consider this their home track. Busch has achieved one victory, 15 top-10 finishes, and 12 top-five finishes in 25 career starts in his hometown. Gragson has an average finish of 3.4 in his eight Xfinity Series starts.

Pennzoil 400 expert predictions

Favorite: Kyle Larson (+450 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In the last six races at this track, Larson has the third-best average finish (8.5) among all active drivers. He has achieved two wins and two runner-up finishes during this time. Additionally, Larson recorded the second-best average speed rating in both the spring and fall races in Las Vegas.

Furthermore, he was among the top two fastest cars on the track in both Las Vegas races of 2023. His green-flag speed of 175.8 mph during the fall event outpaced Christopher Bell and he was only second to teammate William Byron in green-flag speed during the same race.

In conclusion, Larson has history on his side with his team winning four out of the last six races on this track, two of which were secured by the No. 5 car.

Long shot: Chase Elliott (+1800 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Out of the four Hendrick Motorsports drivers, Chase Elliott stands out as the only one without a win on this track. His average finishing position of 19.2 is the lowest among his teammates. Additionally, Elliott has been averaging a 14.9-place finish over his last 29 races at intermediate tracks.

Despite this, he has achieved three top-5 finishes at Las Vegas in his Cup career, with one second-place finish in fall 2021. Elliott has led laps in five of those races and has spent at least 80% of his time inside the top 15 in seven of his 13 starts at Las Vegas. Additionally, he has consistently been in the top 3 positions on the track in all but one race.

Our top sports betting sites have conflicting odds on Elliott’s chances of winning the race. FanDuel is offering the No. 9 car at +800, BetMGM has him at +1200, and Caesars has him at +1600.

Prop: Winning car’s number is Even (+120 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Out of the last four races on this track, an even number car has emerged as the winner three times. Additionally, three Hendrick Motorsports drivers have taken home the victory in the same span, with two of them driving an even-numbered car.

This group also features defending series champion Ryan Blaney in the No. 12, two-time Las Vegas winner Joey Logano in the No. 22, Kyle Busch in the No. 8, and fall runner-up Christopher Bell in the No. 20.

This bet provides an opportunity to hedge with a Larson outright, while still offering sufficient value as a standalone wager.
