Texans vs. Colts Prediction, Pick & Odds Week 18: Can Houston Clinch Playoff Spot?
There is a strong possibility that the victor of Saturday night’s game will emerge as the AFC South champion for the 2026 season. Let’s analyze the matchup further with our top prediction for the Texans vs. Colts based on the most favorable NFL odds available.
On Saturday, two 9-7 teams will compete for a playoff spot as the Houston Texans play against the Indianapolis Colts. The victor will claim the last wild-card spot in the AFC and may also become the AFC South champions.
Should the Jacksonville Jaguars be defeated by the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the victor of Saturday night’s game will claim the division title.
Earlier this year, it seemed like the Jaguars were on track to win the AFC South after the Colts lost their starting rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson in Week 5 and the Texans had a sluggish start with rookie signal-caller C.J. Stroud.
Both teams have built momentum this season, with the Colts led by backup quarterback Gardner Minshew and the Texans powered by Stroud.
Which team will unexpectedly rise as a playoff contender this season after this game?
Alongside our NFL Week 18 predictions and player props, we are also providing our top Texans vs. Colts prediction and NFL picks. The odds are sourced from our recommended NFL betting sites, and the confidence level of each pick is rated on a scale of one to five stars.
Texans vs. Colts prediction: Saturday
Texans ML (-118 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Back in Week 2, the Colts narrowly defeated their opponents with a 31-20 road win, despite being outgained in yards and first downs. Now, with both teams significantly changed, I anticipate a different outcome in their upcoming matchup.
The Texans have fully embraced their identity with Stroud leading the charge, as he was being considered for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and even made a run in the NFL MVP race until a disappointing Week 14 performance and subsequent injury ended his chances.
Stroud made a triumphant return last week, highlighting why this team is a force to be reckoned with when he is in charge. The young quarterback, in his fourth game out of the last seven, completed an impressive 75% of his passes and racked up 213 yards and a touchdown in a solid 26-3 victory against the Titans.
He will now go up against a Colts secondary that he dominated for 384 yards in Week 2, and it appears to be even more depleted. Top cornerback Kenny Moore, who has played the most snaps (1,033) and holds the fifth highest PFF grade (76.0) on the Indianapolis defense, is questionable with a back injury. Another cornerback, Chris Lammons, who missed practice after starting his first game last week, is also questionable with an ankle injury.
The Indianapolis offense is also struggling, as three starters – center Ryan Kelly (ankle), guard Quenton Nelson (ankle), and tackle Braden Smith (knee) – are all questionable for Saturday’s game. This is concerning for Minshew, who ranks 30th in completion rate under pressure (45.6%) out of 38 quarterbacks with at least 200 dropbacks.
Houston’s defense has been successful in pressuring opposing quarterbacks this season, ranking fifth in pressure rate at 25% despite blitzing at a low rate of 21.1%. The team has accumulated 21 sacks since Week 13, the highest in the league, leading to DeMeco Ryans’ defense becoming a top-10 unit in the latter half of the season.
Likewise, the Texans are ranked 12th in weighted DVOA, while the Colts are ranked 22nd. Houston has consistently outperformed their division rivals in terms of net yards per play and net EPA/play throughout the season. With Stroud back in the lineup, it’s no surprise that early bets are favoring the road team, and I will be doing the same.

The Colts were initially favored as short home favorites, but the market has now shifted in favor of the Texans. The Texans are now the favored team at all five of our top sports betting sites.
However, prices vary depending on the sportsbook. Houston is favored at -120 to win at three top sportsbooks, but Caesars has a higher -130 price for the road team. If you believe the Colts will win, the best option is a +110 ticket at Caesars.
Instead, we have decided to go with the Texans ML at -118 odds on FanDuel, despite it being slightly discounted. This option tends to stand out compared to others. Alternatively, you can choose Houston -1 at -110 odds from three other books mentioned. However, I am willing to pay a little more for the moneyline in a high-stakes game like this.
Considering the prices are similar, I suggest exploring our top sportsbook promotions to find out which books are providing the most beneficial bonuses for this match.

Texans vs. Colts odds analysis
The Colts started as slight favorites, with odds ranging from -1 to -1.5 at different sportsbooks. However, bettors quickly shifted their focus to the Texans, who have been the stronger team throughout the season and welcomed back their starting QB, C.J. Stroud, last week.
There has been no significant change in the total, which started at 47.5 and has stayed the same on our top sports betting apps. It’s important to monitor the injury reports for both teams this week, as a sudden wave of absences could impact the total before the game starts.
