Despite the warning, I am confident in my prediction that the Oilers will be the fifth team to win the championship. I have consistently supported the Oilers in our analysis of the Stanley Cup Final Odds and Betting Preview. The Panthers’ 3-0 series lead did not accurately represent the games played on the ice. The Oilers outperformed the Panthers in expected goals in four out of six games and were the better team in Games 1 and 3, despite the outcomes.
Sergei Bobrovsky was the hero for the Panthers in their Game 1 victory, defying the odds against a dominant Oilers team. Despite MoneyPuck.com giving the Oilers a 92% chance of winning, Bobrovsky’s outstanding performance included 32 saves in a shutout and 5.7 goals saved above expected, showcasing his exceptional skills. This stellar showing elevated Bobrovsky to the top of the Conn Smythe odds leaderboard, although he has since been surpassed.
