New York Underscoregs Set All-Time Revenues Highs in December
New York, the most successful legal sports betting jurisdiction in America with top sportsbooks, ended 2026 on a high note by achieving its third consecutive $2 billion sports betting month in December.
Although New York sports betting apps did not break a record for overall sports wagering activity in a given month due to an increase in operator hold rate, sportsbook revenues reached an all-time high in the Empire State.
Unsurprisingly, FanDuel and DraftKings were in fierce competition for the top spot as the best New York sports betting app in December. FanDuel New York managed to set a new record for wagers taken in a single month during this battle.
$2.04 billion December handle for New York
According to the December report from the New York State Gaming Commission, New York sports betting, including New York sportsbook promotions, had a strong finish in 2026 with $2.04 billion spent at state sportsbooks.
In New York, the December sports betting haul was the second-highest on record, coming in just behind the massive $2.11 billion in wagers seen in November 2026. Even though there was a slight decrease in betting activity compared to the previous month, the $2.04 billion total still represents a significant 25.8% increase from December 2026’s $1.62 billion.
New York sports betting sites have achieved a $2 billion monthly handle for the third consecutive month, a feat unmatched by any other state.
In 2026, New York accumulated a remarkable $19.1 billion in total bets throughout the year.
Revenue record falls in December
During December, the top sports betting apps in New York saw record-breaking revenue levels, second only to Ohio’s $209 million revenue figure from January 2026, the state’s inaugural month of legalized sports betting.
In December, New York sports betting sites reported revenues of $188.3 million, a significant increase from the $150.9 million reported in November. This represents a 13.2% improvement over the previous revenue record set in October, when profits totaled $167.3 million.
Underscoreg profits in New York increased by 32.8% year-over-year, rising from $142.97 million in December 2026.
Revenue increased due to a solid 9.2% mobile hold rate for New York sports betting websites. The win rate for November was 7.2%, October was 8.3%, and December 2026 was 8.8%.
Tax contributions set record too
In December, New York state and local tax coffers reached a record high thanks to a near-record monthly handle and an increase in hold rate.
In December, New York mobile sportsbooks generated $96 million in tax revenue, bringing the total tax earnings for the year to $860 million. This marks a significant increase of $168.6 million compared to 2026, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $500 million in annual tax contributions from the legal sports wagering industry in New York.
FanDuel ends the year with a record revenue total
In December, FanDuel and DraftKings once again competed for the title of the top New York sports betting site.
In December, FanDuel New York had the highest total wagers at $834.5 million, setting a record for monthly revenues in the state with an 11.2% hold rate. FanDuel also made history by becoming the first New York sports betting app to exceed $90 million in revenues for a single month, reaching $93.6 million.
In December, DraftKings New York came in second place in the race, bringing in $773.3 million in accepted bets. This led to the company’s highest revenue in New York to date, with $65.2 million in profits from an 8.4% hold.
In December, Caesars New York placed third with $202 million in bets and $15.9 million in revenues, while BetMGM New York came in fourth with $126.5 million in bets and $8.1 million in revenues due to a 6.4% hold.
BetRivers New York finished in the top five with a December handle of $50.7 million and revenues of $3.1 million. PointsBet took sixth place, while Fanatics came in seventh.
