Sports bettors in North Carolina are thrilled to finally have the opportunity to make legal online wagers.

Mobile sports betting in North Carolina has reached a major milestone with the official debut of betting apps. On Monday at noon, eight betting sites were introduced, marking a significant step forward for the state’s sports betting industry.

Sports bettors in North Carolina, which has an estimated 2023 population of 10.8 million (ranking ninth in the U.S.), are likely to quickly take advantage of the various North Carolina sportsbook promotions being offered by every major sportsbook.

Online sports betting in North Carolina was legalized on March 11, 2023, nearly three years after retail sports betting became legal on March 18, 2021, when Gov. Roy Cooper signed HB 347 into law.

The law permits a maximum of 12 online sports betting licenses and up to eight retail licenses, with numerous top sportsbooks obtaining licenses to operate in North Carolina.

Cooper’s first legal online bet was one to remember, as he placed it on the Carolina Hurricanes to win the Stanley Cup.
