Caesars Completes Acquisition of WynnBET’s iGaming Operation in Michigan

Caesars Entertainment has confirmed the completion of its acquisition of WynnBET’s iGaming business in Michigan.

The agreement is intended to grow the online casino industry in Michigan, capitalizing on the closure of WynnBET Michigan.

The company announced on Tuesday that it has secured a long-term extension with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians for access to iGaming market rights in Michigan.

Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital, expressed gratitude to the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the Michigan Gaming Control Board for their collaboration during this process.

Caesars will unveil a new online casino brand and take over the WynnBET iCasino operations on its Michigan iGaming Platform in the latter part of 2024, coinciding with the official acquisition.

Brand bolstering

Caesars announced in February their acquisition of WynnBET’s online U.S. casino business in order to expand their online sports betting offerings in Michigan.

Matt Sunderland, SVP and Chief iGaming Officer for Caesars Entertainment, stated that the assumption of WynnBET’s iGaming operations in Michigan allows them to tap into a significant market and customer base as they continue to grow their iGaming franchise. This move is seen as a crucial step forward in expanding their digital products and providing players with more ways to play.

Caesars is expanding its online and retail sportsbook and Caesars Palace Online Casino in Michigan, which is expected to boost iCasino Net Revenue growth in a profitable way, as stated in a Caesars news release.

Michigan’s booming market

Michigan’s sports betting industry is thriving, joining Pennsylvania and New Jersey as one of three states to generate at least $5 billion in iGaming revenue.

In February, Austin Lowes, chairman of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, emphasized the importance of finding a partner in iGaming with expertise in the U.S. market and a track record of successful partnerships in Indian country. Lowes expressed confidence in Caesars being the ideal choice for their new iCasino offering.
