Over the weekend, former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant demonstrated that his abilities extend beyond catching touchdown passes in the NFL. It turns out that Bryant also excels as a sports bettor.

During the weekend, Bryant shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) of a successful 13-leg college basketball parlay ticket he placed with BetMGM Underscoreg. The payout was particularly impressive for the former NFL star.

Dez Bryant wins nearly $500K on BetMGM parlay

Bryant, a former three-time Pro Bowl receiver for the Cowboys, placed a $767.68 bet on a 13-leg parlay for Saturday’s college basketball games. The parlay included moneyline and spread wagers, with combined odds of +54215.

The final stretch of the game saw the Nevada Wolf Pack secure a dramatic come-from-behind victory over UNLV, with the outcome hanging in the balance until the final minute. The Bryant household must have been on edge during those tense moments.

Guessing all 13 games correctly would result in a massive payout of $416,970.35, exceeding the total cash amount earned during his final NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020.

More wins for former NFL star

Not long after Bryant’s amazing win on a 13-leg parlay bet, he placed another multi-leg wager with BetMGM and once again emerged victorious.

After winning in college basketball, Bryant decided to bet $1,000 on a multi-leg bet that included Taylor Fritz beating Tommy Paul at the Delray Beach Open. The end result was a payout of almost $25,000 for the ex-NFL wide receiver.

Bryant admitted on X that he had no idea about betting against Paul. He simply chose Fritz because it seemed like a good choice.

Over the weekend, Bryant shared a screenshot of a parlay bet with 15 legs that could have paid out close to $1 million. Despite all but one of the legs being successful, the bet ultimately fell short, preventing what could have been an unforgettable sports betting weekend.

Good news and bad news for sportsbooks

It is clear that a significant payout from one of our top sports betting sites can impact the financial performance of the provider. However, the attention given to the betting success of a former superstar is beneficial for both the BetMGM brand and the industry in general.

Both Bryant and BetMGM shared screenshots of the winning bet on their individual social media accounts, causing the win to go viral. Bryant’s 13-leg parlay slip garnered plenty of attention and admiration.

Bryant has been in talks with a nationwide provider in America for a sponsorship deal. News of his weekend win could speed up the announcement of a brand ambassador agreement.
