Chiefs vs. Eagles Preview

The Super Bowl happening tonight will be the first time in NFL history that the 2017 Champion Eagles will face off against the 2019 Champion Chiefs in a playoff matchup. Philadelphia is favored to win with a point spread of 1.5 points, while Kansas City is the underdog with a point spread of +105. The total points expected in the game is set at 51.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have dominated their two postseason games, outscoring opponents by a total of 55 points. However, they will face their toughest test yet against the league’s top scoring offense. Philadelphia boasts a formidable receiving group, ranking 12th in receiving yards, but their rushing attack is where they truly shine. In their last game, all four touchdowns were scored on the ground, with a total of 150 rushing yards coming from four different players. Miles Sanders led the way with two touchdowns, including the game-winner, while Jalen Hurts and Boston Scott also found the end zone.

Kansas City Chiefs

Luck has favored Philadelphia as both Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes have suffered injuries, with Purdy tearing his UCL in the NFC Championship Game and Mahomes battling an ankle injury. The Chiefs not only have their top quarterback playing hurt, but also their leading wide receiver, JuJu Smith-Schuster, who will not be at full strength due to a knee injury sustained in the previous game.

Despite leading the league in passing yards and ranking 21st in rushing yards this season, Kansas City may have to lean on their running backs more heavily. The Eagles have given up the fewest passing yards but are 16th in rushing yards allowed. Clyde Edwards-Helaire will make his return in Week 11 after Mecole Hardman was placed on the IR. Isiah Pacheco will continue to be the team’s top rushing option after a solid performance with 951 yards in the regular season and playoffs.

Kansas City has emerged victorious in the last three meetings and currently leads the all-time series against Philadelphia with a 5-4 record. The game is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time.
