Bengals vs. Chiefs Game Preview

After falling just short of the Super Bowl last season, the Chiefs are seeking revenge against the Bengals. Kansas City is favored by one point (-116) over Cincinnati (-102), with a total of 46.5 points set for the game.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have won 10 games in a row and are aiming to reach back-to-back Super Bowls for the first time in team history. They recently beat the Buffalo Bills 27-10 as 6.5-point underdogs, bringing their record against the spread to 13-5.

Joe Mixon rushed for over 100 yards for the second time this season, scoring a touchdown and averaging 5.3 yards per carry against the Bills defense, which ranked fifth in rushing yards allowed. The Bengals’ decision to run the ball frequently was unexpected, especially considering Joe Burrow’s talented receiving corps led by Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are entering this game with a remarkable five-game winning streak and are poised to compete in their fifth consecutive Conference Championship game. They are aiming to secure their third Super Bowl appearance in the last five years, following their 27-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round. Notably, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce connected for a touchdown for the first time since November 27. Kelce, the top tight end in the league, set a new record with 14 receptions in a postseason game. Kelce’s second touchdown was caught from backup Chad Henne, who stepped in for Mahomes in the second quarter. Although Mahomes returned for the second half, he may not be at full strength for tonight’s game due to a high ankle sprain.

The Bengals emerged victorious in all three games played in 2022, with a 27-24 win this season mirroring the score of the AFC Championship game. The kickoff for the upcoming matchup is set for 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
