Fanatics Launches First Retail Underscoreg Inside NFL Stadium

The DC sports betting market is continually raising the bar for the retail experience in the industry.

Fanatics Underscoreg has officially launched its retail sports betting offering at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., the home of the Washington Commanders. This marks the first retail sports betting site to be located inside an NFL stadium. Despite the Commanders not being in the playoffs, local football fans were still eager to place their bets at the new spot for the Divisional Round of games last weekend.

The BetMGM sportsbook at Arizona Cardinals State Farm Stadium was the first retail sportsbook to launch at an NFL stadium, located adjacent to the field. However, the Fanatics location at FedEx Field is unique as it is the first sportsbook inside an NFL stadium. This is a trend seen in other pro sports venues in the DC area, which also have built-in retail sportsbook locations.

The Capital One Arena provides 18,000 square feet of entertainment space for fans of the Caps and Wizards at Caesars Underscoreg. When it opened in May 2021, Caesars made history as the first sportsbook located inside a U.S. sports arena. The DMV area also boasts retail sports betting options at Nationals Park with BetMGM and at Audi Field with FanDuel.

DC sports fans now have easy access to top sportsbooks through in-stadium locations for all major teams, enhancing their game day experience while supporting their local franchises.

DC a vibrant sports betting market

The Washington DC area is not only a hub for retail sports betting, but also a thriving market for mobile sportsbooks.

In January 2021, mobile sports betting was introduced in Virginia, propelling the state into the Top 10 for total handle over the past two years. Sports betting enthusiasts in Virginia have a variety of options to choose from, including FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, BetMGM, PointsBet, BetRivers, and SI Underscoreg.

On November 23, 2026, Maryland residents were delighted to find that online sports betting had launched in their state, providing an additional Thanksgiving treat for local bettors. Barstool Underscoreg, BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, BetRivers, and PointsBet all went live right away, with the anticipation of more mobile sportsbooks becoming available in the future.

Residents who reside in the District should be enthusiastic about the introduction of a new retail option in the area. Although online sports betting in DC is available through the DC Lottery-run GambetDC mobile sports wagering app, it is not widely embraced by the local gambling community.

Customers of BetMGM, Caesars, and FanDuel can only use their mobile sportsbooks in DC if they are near the physical retail locations, promoting interaction with the brick-and-mortar stores.

Now that professional sports have resumed after the 2020 pandemic stoppages, the addition of a major venue that combines dining, entertainment, and sports betting is sure to attract a population that is already familiar with this integrated experience at sporting events.

It will be intriguing to observe the impact of this decision on Fanatics’ ongoing growth in the sports betting industry. The opening of the Fanatics Underscoreg at FedEx Field marks their inaugural sportsbook in the United States, potentially paving the way for future partnerships with other professional sports stadiums where Fanatics operates team stores, like the Commanders.

Shortly after opening its new location, reports emerged that Fanatics is in discussions to acquire BetParx, an online sportsbook operating in several states, including Maryland.
