Fanatics Underscoreg, a top sports betting site, joined the growing Iowa legal sports betting market on Tuesday at 11 AM ET with the launch of their latest Iowa sports betting app. The announcement was made by Fanatics on X.

Fanatics Betting and Gaming’s recent launch in Iowa is the newest development following its acquisition of PointsBet’s American division for $225 million last summer. The company has been transitioning its platform from the Australian-based sportsbook to the markets previously served by PointsBet.

Iowa has become the 12th state to introduce the Fanatics Underscoreg mobile sports betting brand, joining three other U.S. jurisdictions where Fanatics also operates retail sportsbooks.

More details

Iowa residents can now enhance their sports fan experience by downloading the Fanatics app on iOS and Android, as announced in a recent press release from Fanatics. This means that fans living or visiting Iowa can now access the Fanatics app and enjoy all it has to offer, including exclusive promo codes.

Customers in the Iowa market who had a PointsBet account can now download the Fanatics underscore Iowa app and retain their PointsBet log-in details, such as username, password, account balance, rewards points, and responsible gaming preferences.

New users of Fanatics who are eager to try out the latest Iowa sports betting app will instantly qualify for the exclusive Rewards Program “FanCash.” This program offers a 5% cash back reward that can be utilized for bonus bets or to purchase Fanatics branded merchandise from their wide-ranging online store.

The retail casino Catfish Bend Casino in the state is transitioning from its PointsBet partnership to the new Fanatics Underscoreg brand.

Competitive Iowa market

Fanatics is stepping into the highly competitive Iowa legal sports betting market, where all the leading national brands are already established. This will be a challenging journey for Fanatics as they strive to gain respectability in the Hawkeye State, with many Iowa sportsbook promotions along the way.

In Iowa, top-tier sports betting sites like FanDuel, DraftKings, and Caesars dominate the market, with bet365, ESPN BET, and BetMGM also offering strong options. The Fanatics Underscoreg is working to break into the middle tier, but breaking into the top three seems like a challenging goal for Iowa’s newest sports betting product at the moment.

PointsBet was previously positioned in the middle tier of Iowa sports betting platforms, a position that Fanatics is expected to occupy. In 2023, PointsBet concluded the year with a total handle of $36.6 million and $2.8 million in state winnings, which fell slightly below expectations.

With its well-known branding and large customer base from its apparel business, Fanatics can hopefully increase those numbers over time.

Growth of the Fanatics brand

Since taking over from PointsBet, Fanatics Underscoreg has rapidly expanded its presence across multiple states including Connecticut, Colorado, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, and Iowa.

In the past few months, Iowa has announced three market access opportunities for the company. Fanatics has replaced PlaySugarHouse as one of the three sports betting apps available in Connecticut, and will also be among the first sportsbooks to enter the North Carolina market when sports betting apps launch on March 11.

Fanatics is apparently trying to establish itself as the next Arizona sports betting app.
