North Dakota State University Signs ProhiBet to Prevent Prohibited Wagering
North Dakota State University has partnered with ProhiBet, a betting integrity platform, to prevent unauthorized wagering on our top sports betting sites and maintain compliance with state betting laws.
The ProhiBet cross-monitoring and notification platform, owned by IC360, will prevent individuals who are prohibited from betting according to state regulations, such as student-athletes, coaches, league officials, and administration staff, from placing wagers on top sports betting apps in the industry.
Matt Larsen, Director of Athletics at NDSU, stated that the collaboration with IC360 offers sports betting monitoring and educational resources for coaches, athletics department staff, and student-athletes. The ProhiBet platform will monitor and detect any irregularities in wagering, providing real-time information through a dashboard to ensure the protection of NDSU Athletics.
We aim to safeguard and educate our student-athletes as sports betting remains readily available to college students.
IC360 will not only be implementing the ProhiBet solution, but will also offer educational training and resources for student-athletes and staff via its e-learning platform. This initiative follows IC360’s recent partnership with Radar to improve its geolocation services and strengthen enforcement of its integrity monitoring services.
Matt Heap, Managing Director of ProhiBet, expressed excitement about the partnership with North Dakota State University. He believes that the collaboration between ProhiBet’s advanced encrypted data transfer system and NDSU’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of sports will greatly improve the transparency and reliability of sports betting.
As of December 2021, sports betting has been legal in North Dakota, but it is currently limited to tribal gambling establishments located throughout the state.
Legislation in 2021 was denied by state legislators, preventing the possibility of a 2022 ballot measure for online sports betting and the entry of top sportsbooks into the state. As a result, there will be no legislation or ballot initiative for online sports betting until 2024 or 2025.
