With just a few days left until the start of Week 2 of the NFL season, a prominent sportsbook in North America is taking the lead by reducing the juice on its NFL spreads. In this article, I will discuss the importance of this change and how it will impact bettors.

I couldn’t wait until my Week 2 article to mention this, as it’s too good of an opportunity for bettors to pass up. The NFL spreads from PointsBet for Week 2 are so favorable that I urge you to stop what you’re doing and sign up with this Australian sportsbook immediately.

In sports betting, the key to success is finding a small advantage over the odds in order to be profitable in the long term. The key to achieving this is by getting the best possible odds, whether it’s on a future bet, total points, or point spread. PointsBet has recently lowered the vig on their NFL lines, which could give you a significant edge over time.

PointsBet Underscoreg Offering 14 Cent NFL Lines

In each sports betting line, sportsbooks include a small fee for providing the wager. This fee, known as the juice or vig, serves as the sportsbook’s commission for offering the line and is how they generate profit.

The commonly used point spread in the industry is set at a 20-cent line, typically seen as -110/-110 or -115/-105. This equates to sportsbooks retaining 4.76% of the total amount wagered.

PointsBet now has a 14 or 15-cent line available for all NFL point spreads and game totals. This is usually shown as -107/-107 or -110/-105. This reduction in hold from 4.76% to 3.38% means that for every dollar bet on an NFL spread at PointsBet, you will receive an extra three cents.

Here is an overview of the betting lines set by the top players in the US sports betting market for Week 2.

Underscoreg Line Juice
PointsBet Giants -2 (-107) | Panthers +2 (-107)14 cent line (3.38% hold)
FanDuelGiants -1.5 (-108) | Panthers +1.5 (-112)20 cent line (4.76% hold)
CaesarsGiants -2.5 (-110) | Panthers +2.5 (-110)20 cent line (4.76% hold)
DraftKingsGiants -2 (-110) | Panthers +2 (-110)20 cent line (4.76% hold)
BetMGMGiants -2 (-110) | Panthers +2 (-110)20 cent line (4.76% hold)
BarstoolGiants -2 (-109) | Panthers +2 (-112)21 cent line (4.98% hold)

By examining the chart, it is evident that PointsBet is the sole sportsbook providing 14 cent lines for NFL games. When given the option to bet on the New York Giants -2 at DraftKings at -110 or at PointsBet at -107, why choose the former?

I have also noticed you, Barstool_G. Your stake is slightly higher than others, and 33% more than if you had placed your bet at PointsBet.

Would you be willing to save three cents on every dollar of gas you purchase for the rest of your life? While it may not make a significant difference immediately, the savings will accumulate over time.

Will More Underscoregs Follow Suit?

Whether or not bettors utilize PointsBet’s reduced juice will determine the answer to this question. DraftKings and FanDuel may not see a need to adjust their line vig if they maintain the same level of activity in their NFL markets as they did before PointsBet introduced 14-cent lines.

Transitioning from a 20-cent line to a 14-cent line is a significant choice for a sportsbook, as it increases the difficulty of handicapping. Lowering the juice puts betting sites at greater risk of making mistakes in their odds.

As bettors, it is important for us to demonstrate to sportsbooks that we support and will utilize changes in order to encourage similar changes in other regions. The increasing competition for customers due to legalization expanding across North America benefits us by pushing sportsbooks to enhance their services.

PointsBet is demonstrating its commitment to being a leader in the industry in order to attract more customers. Other companies may see a decrease in customer acquisition if they do not follow suit. It is imperative that we take action and demonstrate that it is important.

As we near Week 2 of the season, it is now too late for any sportsbooks to react to PointsBet’s recent move. However, there is a possibility that another sportsbook may follow suit in Week 3. It is likely that a smaller sportsbook will be the first to make a similar move, with larger household names potentially following suit. If I were to wager on one of the more well-known sportsbooks, my bet would be on Caesars, as other betting sites tend to be more conservative with their lines.
