Favorites for the 2025 PGA Championship
Scottie Scheffler (+450 via bet365)
The current Masters champion was detained on the morning of the second round of the 2024 PGA Championship in Louisville, Ky. for a traffic violation. Despite the distractions, they managed to finish T-8 in the tournament.
He is highly likely to maintain his position as the top player in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) for the next year, and he is the frontrunner according to the odds for the 2025 Masters. With a solid performance at Augusta National Golf Course and other tournaments, he is expected to stay at the top of the PGA Championship odds.
Rory McIlroy (+900 via BetMGM)
McIlroy was unable to retain his 2014 PGA Championship title at Valhalla and also did not break his decade-long major drought. He finished in a disappointing T-12 position in the second major of 2024.
Nevertheless, he is expected to be one of the top choices in the 2025 PGA Championship betting odds, having won the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow four times.
Xander Schauffele (+1200 via DraftKings)
After consistently falling short in major tournaments, Schauffele achieved victory at Valhalla in 2024. This marked a strong start to the PGA Tour season, propelling him to No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
With his track record of consistent top 10 finishes, he will likely remain a strong contender on the oddsboard as he gets ready to defend the Wanamaker Trophy.
Tiger Woods’ PGA Championship odds
+25000 via DraftKings
Tiger successfully qualified for the 2024 Masters, but was unable to advance to the weekend in the PGA Championship, causing his ranking in the Official World Golf Ranking to fall to No. 809.
Although he will be playing at Quail Hollow as a past champion, he is not expected to be a contender for the win. Bettors should consider other options instead of placing their bets on him.

How to bet on golf
To bet on golf successfully, it is important to be knowledgeable about the different types of bets available and how to evaluate player performance. Begin by learning about the common types of golf bets, such as outright winner bets, each-way bets (which include both a win and a top finish), head-to-head matchups, and proposition bets on specific events during a tournament, like hole-in-one occurrences or individual player performances on certain holes.
After determining the types of bets you prefer, conduct thorough research on players, course conditions, recent form, and other pertinent factors that could impact results. Take note of player statistics, recent tournament showings, course history, and any injuries or changes in form that could potentially affect a player’s performance.
How to read golf odds
Learn how to interpret golf betting odds in American format.
- Positive odds: Positive odds indicate the potential profit on a $100 wager. For example, if a golfer has odds of +300, it means that a $100 bet would yield a profit of $300 if the golfer wins the tournament. So, your total payout would be $400 ($300 profit + $100 original stake).
- Negative odds: Negative odds represent the amount you need to wager to win $100 in profit. For instance, if a golfer has odds of -200, it means that you would need to bet $200 to win $100 in profit if the golfer wins. Your total payout would be $300 ($100 profit + $200 original stake). In a tournament like the Masters, it’s unlikely to see negative odds on any golfer until late in Sunday’s final round while using our best live betting sites.
Knowing American odds helps you determine the potential payout and likelihood of a golfer winning a tournament. Positive odds mean the golfer is an underdog, while negative odds indicate they are the favorite.
The odds for a tournament will fluctuate before it begins and during the event. Live odds will be influenced by the current standings, golfer performance, and the position of the pre-tournament favorites. Additionally, odds will consider the popularity of certain golfers and the amount of money wagered on them to win the tournament.
