Despite Michigan’s victory in the national championship in 2024, Georgia is currently the favorite to win the crown in 2025 according to our top sports betting apps. Keep reading for our top picks and predictions for next year’s title.

After guiding the Michigan Wolverines to their first national championship since 1997 with a 34-13 win over the Washington Huskies in the 2024 National Championship, Jim Harbaugh is already looking ahead. Michigan is currently ranked fifth in the opening 2025 College Football Championship odds, poised to defend their crown.

Rumors of Harbaugh’s return to the NFL make us hesitant to bet on Michigan’s current odds to win the national title. Other teams currently offer better value in this market during the offseason.

These are our top picks for the 2025 College Football Championship predictions, based on college football odds from our preferred sports betting sites.

2025 College Football Championship predictions

Georgia (+450 via DraftKings)

For a long-term college football bet, the clear choice is Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs. Despite missing out on a potential three-peat, they were deemed the best team in college football by many power ratings, with ESPN’s SP+ ranking them No. 1 at the end of the postseason.

Georgia, with quarterback Carson Beck leading the way, is a hungry team returning a wealth of talent. With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams, Georgia is poised to secure a spot and has a strong chance to compete with any team in the tournament.

It wouldn’t be shocking to witness Georgia reaffirm their dominance next year, potentially causing this number to disappear before the start of the season.

Oregon (+1200 via FanDuel, bet365)

Despite Oregon losing as the favorite in the Pac-12 Championship, it is important not to overlook the success of head coach Dan Lanning and the program. Under his leadership, the Ducks have achieved a 22-5 record in two seasons and ranked No. 3 in SP+ this year.

Lanning has the Ducks focusing on dominating the trenches, which is crucial for winning a college football championship. The team that can control the line of scrimmage often dictates the outcome of the game, as evidenced by Michigan’s victory over Washington and recent SEC champions.

Oregon is set to join the Big Ten next year, and they have secured quarterback Dillon Gabriel from the transfer portal to take over for Bo Nix. Additionally, I have confidence in Dante Moore, who transferred from UCLA after his freshman year, to compete for the starting QB position.

Keep an eye on the Ducks throughout the year in this market, as any odds of 10/1 or higher are likely worth considering.

Penn State (+2500 via FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars)

I see Penn State as a potential sleeper pick with great value at 25/1 on our top sports betting sites. The team’s championship odds are enticing, and I also suggested considering a 40/1 bet on quarterback Drew Allar for the 2024 Heisman Trophy in my earlier analysis.

There is a possibility that the market may not fully trust Penn State this offseason due to last year’s disappointments, especially with the Big Ten being more competitive than ever. However, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, who came from Kansas, is determined to help the Nittany Lions succeed after two successful seasons with double-digit wins.

Kotelnicki has led Kansas to top-12 rankings in yards per play in the past two seasons, showcasing his ability to maximize the team’s potential. With Penn State’s talented backfield, including Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen, he is expected to continue this trend and bring out the best in the players.

Penn State ended the season ranked as the fifth best team in SP+. Make sure to give them the credit they deserve.
