U.S. Open Round 2 picks

Tyrrell Hatton vs. Jordan Spieth 18 hole matchup ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In Round 2, DraftKings has an 18-hole matchup prop featuring Tyrell Hatton and Jordan Spieth. Hatton started off 1-over through his first four holes on Thursday, but then found his groove and finished strong with a three-under-par on the final 14 holes.

On the other hand, Spieth started strong at 1-under and without a bogey in the first seven holes of Round 1, but struggled in the final 11 holes, finishing at plus-3. Spieth’s tendency to unravel, missing short putts and hitting errant tee shots, has been a recurring issue. Despite Spieth’s impressive scrambling ability, Hatton’s performance in Round 1 is notable, especially ranking second in strokes gained: short game and eighth in SG: off-the-tee.

In the first round, the Englishman recorded only 26 putts, placing him 19th in the field. This puts him ahead of Spieth going into Round 2, even though the former U.S. Open winner played with more urgency to make the cut line. Placing a one-unit wager on Hatton to score lower than Spieth in Round 2 at -125 odds is a good bet.

The most favorable odds are -125 available on DraftKings.

Akshay Bhatia vs. Eric Cole and Erik van Rooyen 3-ball ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We are concluding our Round 2 selections by choosing Akshay Bhatia to win against Eric Cole and Erik van Rooyen in a 3-ball matchup at FanDuel on Friday.

Earlier this season, Bhatia made a breakthrough with a playoff victory over Denny McCarthy at the Valero Texas Open. He is currently ranked in the top 15 for strokes gained: approach and in the top 50 for strokes gained: putting. In Round 1 at Pinehurst, Bhatia recorded four birdies and ranked in the top 30 for strokes gained: off-the-tee and strokes gained: approach. He also hit 12 out of 14 fairways.

Cole and van Rooyen are both trailing after Round 1, with scores of 3-over and 6-over, respectively. However, Bhatia’s exceptional performance at Pinehurst makes it difficult for them to outplay him in the upcoming 18 holes on Friday.

We should place an additional unit bet on Bhatia at positive odds in order for him to maintain his strong performance and finish with a lower score than Cole and van Rooyen in Round 2.

FanDuel offers the best odds at +125.

How to bet on golf

If you’re looking to place bets on the U.S. Open golf tournament, it’s crucial to grasp the specific obstacles posed by the course and weather conditions, particularly when the event is hosted at Pinehurst No. 2. To assist you in navigating this, here is a comprehensive guide to begin with.

Begin by learning about the various types of bets you can place. One popular choice is the outright winner bet, in which you select the golfer you believe will win the tournament. For instance, you might come across odds of +300 for a top contender like Scottie Scheffler. This means that if you wager $10 on him and he emerges victorious, you would earn a $30 profit.

Another popular form of betting is head-to-head matchups where you choose which golfer will have the better score in the tournament. For instance, you could wager on Xander Schauffele at -120 to outscore Rory McIlroy at +100, risking $12 to win $10 if Schauffele performs better. Prop bets, on the other hand, involve specific events within the tournament, like predicting if there will be a hole-in-one or how a particular golfer will fare on a specific hole.

Consider betting on golfers who excel in accuracy and putting when wagering on the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, known for its challenging greens and roughs that can greatly affect player performance. It’s also wise to take into account recent form and past performances at courses with similar characteristics.

Conduct a thorough analysis of the players, focusing on their recent tournament results, past performances at specific courses, and any current injuries or changes in form. Consider factors such as a golfer’s success on difficult greens or in certain weather conditions, as these could impact their performance at tournaments like Pinehurst No. 2.
