The 79th annual Belgian Grand Prix is the next event on the Formula 1 racing calendar. Known for its unpredictable weather, the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps is ready to welcome the top F1 drivers this weekend.
Max Verstappen, the defending series champion, has won the Belgian GP two years in a row. With a seven-race winning streak and a significant lead in the F1 Championship odds race, Verstappen is aiming for his 10th win of the season.
Despite qualifying faster than any other driver, the Red Bull Racing star will not be starting from the pole on Sunday due to a gearbox penalty. Verstappen’s penalty will drop him five spots on the starting grid, allowing Charles Leclerc to inherit the pole position. Nevertheless, Verstappen remains a strong favorite to win the race.
Below are our top predictions and picks for the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix taking place on Sunday at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. Our selections are based on odds from reputable sports betting sites, with confidence levels rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.

Belgian GP predictions
Outright winner: Max Verstappen (-380 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m sorry for those who were expecting a surprise winner prediction this week. Despite starting in sixth place, Verstappen’s recent performance suggests that it would take a major disaster to derail his current momentum.
Verstappen has emerged victorious in the last seven races and has won a total of nine out of 11 races so far this year. With 281 points, he leads the F1 driver standings, holding a comfortable lead of over 100 points ahead of his Red Bull Racing teammate, Sergio Perez.
When discussing Perez, it is worth considering if he will be a contender on Sunday. Despite struggling in qualifying for several weeks, Perez was able to secure a top three spot. Due to Verstappen’s penalty, Perez will now start in second place on the grid.
Although Perez is on the same team as Verstappen, there has been a significant difference in performance between the two drivers in recent weeks. In the Hungarian GP, Perez finished third but was more than 37 seconds behind Verstappen. It is worth noting that in the previous year’s Belgian GP, Verstappen won the race despite starting in 14th place, while Perez started and finished in second. Bettors should consider these factors when making their predictions.
Verstappen bettors have likely grown used to accepting high juice with our top sports betting sites. Despite the starting grid penalty, it is expected to be a worthwhile bet once again this week. FanDuel offers odds of -380, the highest in the betting market.
Top 6 finish parlay: Max Verstappen (-800), Lando Norris (-300), Oscar Piastri (-270) = +121 via FanDuel ⭐⭐⭐
Other than Verstappen, the McLaren pair of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been on fire in Formula 1 recently. We are betting on all three of these drivers to finish in the top 6 in the next three races, which could result in a profitable return at a plus-money price.
As previously mentioned, we believe that Verstappen is a strong contender to win the race. It seems highly unlikely that he would not finish in the top-6, as he would have to lose a position from his starting grid. Now, let’s shift our attention to the McLaren teammates.
Norris enters the Belgian GP after achieving two of his strongest results so far this season. Following a fourth-place finish in Austria, he continued with two consecutive runner-up finishes to Verstappen in Britain and Hungary. Despite starting seventh on Sunday’s grid, Norris’ recent impressive performances suggest that he has the potential to finish in the top six.
Piastri has been performing exceptionally well recently. He achieved his best result of the season by finishing fourth in Britain two weeks ago, and followed it up with a fifth place finish in Hungary. Starting fifth on the grid in Belgium on Sunday, he is expected to maintain his speed and secure another top-six result based on his recent performances.
Double podium finish: Red Bull Racing (-190 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐
Throughout the season, Red Bull Racing has consistently outperformed the competition in Formula 1. In two out of the last three weeks, Verstappen and Perez have taken up two out of the three spots on the podium. This impressive feat has been achieved even though Perez has struggled with poor qualifying performances in recent weeks.
Anticipating the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday, both Red Bull Racing drivers are set to begin the race in favorable starting positions. Despite Verstappen’s grid penalty, his impressive speed is expected to quickly propel him back into the top three without much difficulty.
With Perez starting in second position, he has the luxury of being overtaken by his teammate and still securing a podium finish. It is expected that a Red Bull Racing car should have the ability to stay ahead of the competition.
DraftKings offers the most profitable odds for this prop bet. The team double podium finish price of -190 still requires bettors to pay some vig, but it is much lower than combining the two drivers into a podium finish parlay at other top sportsbooks, where one would have to pay over $2.
