Is it possible for another driver to secure a spot in the playoffs by winning at WGI this weekend? Keep reading for our predictions and picks for the Go Bowling at The Glen based on the top NASCAR odds.

The NASCAR Cup Series will be racing on a different road course this Sunday at Watkins Glen International. Unlike the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course where Michael McDowell secured his surprising victory last week, Watkins Glen offers a unique challenge for the drivers. Playoff contenders will be looking to replicate McDowell’s success in the upcoming Go Bowling at The Glen race.

In the past two NASCAR races at Watkins Glen, Kyle Larson emerged as the winner both times. His victory last year sparked some controversy, as he made contact with his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott during a late-race restart to take the lead. Elliott is now looking for a win at the upcoming race to secure his spot in the playoffs and is currently the favorite to do so in betting odds.

WGI is the fastest road course on the NASCAR circuit, with the esses, bus stop, and downhill carousel standing out as unique features. This Finger Lakes track always provides thrilling races.

Below are our top predictions and picks for the 2023 Go Bowling at The Glen taking place on Sunday at Watkins Glen International. Our odds are sourced from the top sports betting apps, and our pick confidence is rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.

Go Bowling at The Glen picks

Outright winner: Daniel Suarez (+1300 via BetMGM) ⭐

Had it not been for a disastrous final pit stop, Daniel Suarez might have been celebrating a playoff-clinching victory last week. Unfortunately, he had to settle for third place and now finds himself in a situation where he likely needs a win to secure a spot in the postseason. Suarez is currently listed at odds as high as 13-1 to win the Go Bowling at The Glen, making him a potentially intriguing choice at that price.

When considering the top drivers at Watkins Glen, Suarez may not be the first name that comes to mind. However, despite never claiming victory at the track, he has consistently delivered strong performances. In three of his five previous Cup Series starts at Watkins Glen, Suarez has finished inside the top five, including a fifth-place finish just last year.

Despite Trackhouse Racing not being able to replicate their success and consistency from last season, they consistently perform well on road courses in NASCAR. Suarez’s only career win came at Sonoma, another road circuit on the schedule. His recent performance at Indy suggests that the No. 99 car will be competitive at Watkins Glen International.

Although Suarez may not be the top choice in the betting market, his outright odds provide a higher potential return compared to other contenders for this weekend. By placing a bet at BetMGM, bettors can take advantage of the +1300 odds, which are up to three dollars higher than those offered at other top sports betting sites.

Top-10 finish: Alex Bowman (+125 via bet365) ⭐⭐

With just two races left before the playoffs, two Hendrick Motorsports drivers are still on the outside looking in. While Chase Elliott is the favorite to secure a spot at The Glen, it’s worth exploring the potential for his teammate, Alex Bowman, a skilled road racer, to also make a strong showing.

Since there aren’t many exciting driver matchups, we have chosen to focus on a top-10 finish bet for Bowman this week.

Bowman recently placed fifth at the IMS Road Course last week. Since the beginning of the 2020 season, he has achieved three top-five finishes and eight top-10 finishes in 17 road course races. His average finish over those 17 races is an impressive 12.6.

While Elliott is getting a lot of attention in betting circles, HMS is focusing on boosting Bowman’s No. 48 car this week. While winning outright to secure a spot in the playoffs may be a stretch, there is great value in betting on him to finish in the top 10 at a plus-money price.

When looking at other top sportsbooks, Bowman’s odds at bet365 for a top-10 finish are more favorable, offering the best potential return compared to the competition where he is priced as short as -135.

Driver matchup parlay: Chase Elliott (-160) vs. Kyle Larson + A.J. Allmendinger (-155) vs. Austin Cindric + Ty Gibbs (-275) vs. Bubba Wallace = +264 via BetMGM ⭐⭐⭐

We don’t usually bet on parleys when it comes to NASCAR, but the driver matchups at BetMGM this week make it tempting. One standout head-to-head is Ty Gibbs as a big favorite against Bubba Wallace. To increase the potential payout, consider adding two more legs with the top two road racers in the field.

In the end, we decided to include Chase Elliott in our top picks for the Go Bowling at The Glen. The -160 odds for his matchup against teammate Kyle Larson seem a bit too high. While Larson has won the race the past two years, his recent performance has not been as strong. On the other hand, Elliott has consistently been a top contender at every road course event.

Following a disappointing performance at IMS last weekend, A.J. Allmendinger is determined to bounce back. While he may not secure a win to guarantee a spot in the playoffs, fans can expect the experienced Kaulig Racing driver to improve. Despite recent challenges, Allmendinger’s skills as a top road racer make it easy to support him, especially compared to the struggling Austin Cindric.

As previously stated, Gibbs is the standout driver in the BetMGM matchups. While he finished in 26th place in his first Cup Series appearance at Watkins Glen last year, his overall road racing skills and statistics surpass those of Bubba Wallace. Wallace, who does not enjoy tracks with both left and right turns, falls short in comparison.

When the three head-to-head selections are combined, bettors can place a parlay bet with odds of +264. For a more conservative option, consider an Elliott + Gibbs parlay with odds of +121 or an Allmendinger + Gibbs combination with odds of +124.
