It is a peculiar time to be aligned with conservative beliefs when considering the Republican presidential and 2024 U.S. election prospects.

The feeling of immense joy is evident when browsing through our Ontario sports betting sites. The latest Donald Trump odds depict the challenger as significantly leading over Joe Biden following the oldest-ever president’s difficult showing in the first debate on June 27. Trump has been steadily increasing his lead in the odds in the days that have followed.

Despite the low odds for Joe Biden, there is now uncertainty surrounding who will be Trump’s opponent in the upcoming election. Trump is currently polling well against all potential Democratic candidates, but a sudden surge of fresh, youthful energy and a new campaign strategy could still pose a threat.

However, the GOP is gaining momentum in the Republican presidential race, as Trump has increased by six percentage points in a recent poll conducted by the New York Times/Siena College. The party’s convention is quickly approaching on July 15.

Republican presidential odds analysis

It appeared that Trump’s path was heading towards a roadblock when he was found guilty on 37 felony charges in the hush-money trial.

However, the verdict had the unintended consequence of rallying support and resulting in a surge of campaign contributions. The validity of the verdict is now being called into question after the Supreme Court’s decision that a former president is partially immune from prosecution for actions taken while in office. As a result, Trump’s sentencing for his hush-money case conviction has been postponed until September 18th.

As he continues to rise in the odds, fueled by various sources, the response from Trump’s supporters to his legal issues and Biden’s declining popularity has transformed what was once a close race into a seemingly easy victory for Trump.

Biden gained momentum in the spring, mostly due to his impressive State of the Union speech. Although it seems like a distant memory now, he and his opponent were neck and neck in the betting odds, with Biden even taking the lead momentarily at BetVictor.

After the Stormy Daniels trial, Trump regained his momentum. He was previously at -150 odds, but now he has risen significantly to around -175 for winning the presidency, and as low as -195 on Caesars.

Despite the president’s current determination to stay in the race, pressure from within his party to select a different candidate is greatly affecting the Democratic presidential chances. Meanwhile, the Republicans are leading with odds of -164, much higher than the +138 odds for the Democrats.
