Our top predictions for the Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders game are based on the best CFL odds, as they clash for the second consecutive week.

The most exciting game of the CFL season so far took place in Week 2 as the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2-0) scored 10 points in less than a minute to defeat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-2). These two teams will face each other again for the second consecutive week on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET (TSN/RDS, CFL+) at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Sask.

After their impressive comeback last week, the Roughriders are now favored by 2.5 points in the rematch at home and are gaining momentum in the Grey Cup odds. Leading the charge are CFL Most Outstanding Player candidates Trevor Harris and A.J. Ouellette.

Over 50.5 ⭐⭐⭐

Based on the high-scoring game between the Riders and Ti-Cats last week, it seems likely that there will be more points scored than defensive plays in their upcoming matchup. In Week 2, Saskatchewan and Hamilton totaled 63 points in a close 33-30 victory for the Riders. Despite a slow start, the Riders were able to capitalize on the weaknesses of the struggling Hamilton defense, particularly in the second half.

Hamilton’s defense is struggling, allowing the second-most points per game in the CFL (32.5) and the second-highest quarterback rating (120.7). The issues with their secondary were evident during Saskatchewan’s comeback, a problem that was also apparent in their loss to Calgary in Week 1. Despite this, Harris demonstrated his abilities as one of the top passers in the league, throwing for 390 yards and two touchdowns against the Tiger-Cats.

I anticipate a similar outcome with Hamilton’s struggle to defend against Kian Schaffer-Baker and Jerreth Sterns, who both had 221 receiving yards last week. Saskatchewan boasts a formidable trio of wide receivers with Shawn Bane included. Despite a slow start this year, Ouellette remains one of the top running backs in the CFL, having rushed for over 1,000 yards last season.

In order to compete with Saskatchewan’s high-scoring offense and compensate for their weak defense, Hamilton must continue to rely on their ability to put points on the board. Despite leading the league in yards per game (439) and averaging 27 points per game, the Tiger-Cats have yet to secure a victory. Bo Levi Mitchell, at 34 years old, continues to showcase his strong passing skills.

Mitchell has already amassed 680 passing yards in just two games, with 380 yards and three touchdowns coming in last week’s matchup against the Riders. He is not the only one driving the offense, as All-Star Tim White is also a key player looking to redeem himself after a costly drop last week. The Tiger-Cats have a plethora of other playmakers who can contribute, helping to take advantage of a Saskatchewan defense that ranks second in allowing passing yards per game (358).

Our odds converter indicates a 52.61% chance that the Over will hit, with a $10 bet resulting in a $9.01 payout.

Tiger-Cats vs. Roughriders first team to score

Roughriders (-141)

With both passing attacks capable of explosive plays, this market is a challenging one to bet on. In the previous game, the Tiger-Cats kicked a 13-yard field goal to start, but the Riders quickly answered with the game’s first touchdown – a 24-yard pass from Harris to Schaffer-Baker. Given their home advantage at Mosaic, I predict Saskatchewan will be the first to score in this upcoming match.

Currently, Harris displays more consistent passing skills compared to Mitchell, who tends to be unpredictable in his aggressive throwing style. The addition of Sterns has significantly boosted the Riders’ offense, and Ouellette is expected to have a breakout performance soon. Saskatchewan’s kicker, Brett Lauther, has been reliable from long distances, boasting a 14-for-17 record on field goals over 40 yards since 2026.

It appeared that Hamilton was on track for a comfortable win in the game last week between these two teams. The Tiger-Cats were leading 20-7 at halftime and held a 30-20 lead with just over five minutes remaining, but the Riders managed to pull off an upset win. I am somewhat surprised that the Riders are not favored by a larger margin at home this week, especially considering their 2-0 record against the spread compared to Hamilton’s 0-2 record.

With the high amount of scoring from both teams and their inconsistent defenses, this total seems reasonable. The ideal weather conditions should lead to a high-scoring game with both passing attacks shining. Both teams have gone over the total in their first two games of the season.
