After a surprising 15-point defeat to the Kings despite being just 3.5-point underdogs, I anticipate that the Suns’ top players will approach their next game with a heightened sense of focus, knowing that all eyes in the basketball world are on them.

This should result in Kevin Durant being more motivated when facing the Mavs. He grabbed seven rebounds in the last game, one of his higher totals this season. Durant’s average of 6.2 rebounds per game is the lowest of his career outside of his rookie season in Seattle. We expect Durant to showcase his skills as a power forward against Dallas, who gives up 55 rebounds per game to opponents (27th in the league).

Given the advantageous matchup for collecting rebounds, it is beneficial to have favorable odds on Durant’s rebounding total. The +110 odds on Durant grabbing over 6.5 rebounds via FanDuel make it a strong four-star recommendation, but we would lower it to three stars if other books offer the standard -110 odds on the Over.

Devin Booker 3-plus made 3-pointers (+170 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Devin Booker has been struggling with his 3-point shooting recently. The 27-year-old guard is only making an average of 1.9 threes per game, which is one of the lowest marks of his career.

Booker’s 3-point shooting percentage dropped from 40% in November to 34% in December. However, we see the Christmas game as a great opportunity for Booker to break out, especially with favorable odds on a realistic shooting goal.

In December, Booker is averaging 5.2 attempts from beyond the arc per game. This makes it possible for him to have some success against Dallas’ average perimeter defense and potentially earn a +170 return at FanDuel. The Mavericks are ranked 15th in the NBA for allowing 3-pointers, giving up an average of 12.9 triples per game.

Luka Doncic Under 10.5 assists (-154 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Luka Doncic’s greatest skill is his exceptional passing ability, but he may face challenges when playing against the Suns, who are ranked seventh in the league in limiting opponents to an average of 25.1 assists per game.

Despite the fact that Doncic is expected to have a similar number of assists as his season average of 9.1, it is unexpected to see the over/under set at 10.5 assists for this game due to the strong defense of the Suns. In his last four games, Doncic has not surpassed 10.5 assists.

Although the best odds we can currently find for the Under are at -154 at our top sportsbooks, it may be wise to hold off and place your bet later in the day on Sunday.
