Despite being favored in only seven games on the opening NFL odds for 2026, there are numerous factors that lead me to believe the Falcons will exceed their win total.

The Falcons are favored to win the NFC South this season, with the second-shortest odds among our top five sportsbooks. Despite their strong chances in the division, the best price we can find is +220 odds through bet365.
By participating in the “stage of elimination” market, we have the opportunity to secure some insurance on the Falcons potentially making the playoffs as a wild-card team. DraftKings currently has them listed as slight underdogs with +105 odds to make the postseason.
If they make it to the playoffs, as predicted by Kelly Irvin in our NFL teams to make the playoffs projections, I believe the +250 odds are favorable for them to lose in their first playoff game under third-year head coach Arthur Smith and sophomore quarterback Desmond Ridder, leading a young and revamped team.

Bijan Robinson to be Offensive Rookie of the Year (+300) ⭐⭐⭐
Although Robinson is the clear favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year according to consensus betting odds, we can still find great value with these +300 odds from FanDuel and Caesars compared to the +250 odds offered elsewhere.
Since 2018, no running back has won this award, but Robinson was drafted eighth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, 12 spots ahead of any wide receiver, including Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, Smith-Njigba is expected to be the third passing option in a crowded Seattle Seahawks receiving group for much of the season.
Although this QB draft class is considered one of the best in recent memory, Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, and Anthony Richardson will face the challenge of leading offenses that lack support in the skill positions. In the Falcons’ backfield, Robinson will compete with Tyler Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson for touches, but he also has a good opportunity to become the team’s third receiving option.
Those betting on Rookie of the Year should be aware that Robinson has the fourth-lowest odds to lead the league in rushing yards and is tied for the sixth-lowest odds to lead in rushing touchdowns among the 2026 NFL rushing props.
NFC South straight forecast: 1st Falcons, 2nd Saints (+425 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Saints are the favored team to win the NFC South at many sportsbooks, but the odds for them to finish first and the Falcons to finish second in the division at +285 in the straight forecast market are too significant.
This division is expected to be closely contested, especially between these two teams, similar to last year when the Saints and Falcons finished third and fourth, both with a 7-10 record.

Falcons Over 3.5 wins in NFC South (+120 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The final pick in our Falcons betting preview is a steal from Caesars at even money.
In Week 1, Atlanta will have the upper hand as they host the Carolina Panthers and rookie QB Bryce Young, avoiding a rowdy rival crowd excited to see their team’s top pick. The rematch will take place in Carolina in Week 15, only four weeks after the Falcons’ bye week. This timing may work in Atlanta’s favor, as the Panthers will be coming home from a lengthy three-game road trip.
The Falcons are scheduled to face the Bucs in Weeks 7 and 14. In the first game, which will take place in Tampa, Atlanta will be coming off two winnable home games and will have a full week of rest before the matchup. The second game will be played just three weeks after the Falcons’ bye week.
The Falcons may have the potential to win both of the season series against the Saints and not worry about them. I predict that Atlanta will win the first head-to-head game in Week 12, as they will be playing at home after both teams have had a bye week in Week 11.
