Last week, the Eagles defense gave up 173 rushing yards to the Buffalo Bills, but only 81 of those yards were from the running backs, with quarterback Josh Allen leading the team. So far this season, the Eagles have not allowed a single running back to rush for 60 yards in a game.
McCaffrey is currently the league’s top rusher, but he has had some underwhelming performances this season. He has surpassed 100 rushing yards in four games, but has also had four games where he rushed for less than 60 yards. The 49ers have a strong passing game, which might limit McCaffrey’s rushing opportunities against their tough run defense.

Despite the potential challenges McCaffrey may face in running on Sunday, the 49ers will not completely remove him from their game plan. He has consistently caught at least five passes in four straight games and is averaging 4.4 receptions per contest.
Since the Eagles rank fourth-worst in pass defense, Brock Purdy is expected to throw frequently in this game. Although he should have success throwing deep, Christian McCaffrey will be available as a safety valve or on designed screen plays.
