Chiefs injury updates, odds for Super Bowl 58

G Joe Thuney (Pectoral – OUT)

Thuney, who missed practice all week, has been officially ruled out for the Super Bowl on Sunday. He has been sidelined since sustaining a pectoral injury during the NFL Divisional round on Jan. 21.

Thuney is widely considered one of the top pass-blocking guards in the NFL, but Patrick Mahomes and his teammates managed to overcome his absence in the AFC title game, despite only scoring 17 points.

RB Jerick McKinnon (Groin – Limited)

How to betBest odds (Over)Best odds (Under)

Total players with rush attemptsOver 7.5 (-125 via DraftKings)Under 7.5 (+100 via DraftKings)

McKinnon has been sidelined since December 17 due to a groin injury that placed him on injured reserve. Reid mentioned in his press conference on Tuesday that McKinnon only has a slight possibility of playing on Sunday.

The experienced running back did participate in practice this week, but only in a limited capacity. It appears unlikely that the 31-year-old backup will get the opportunity to play in his second Super Bowl.

RB Isiah Pacheco (Toe / Ankle – Full)

Despite carrying an injury designation into the AFC Championship, Pacheco managed to log a season-high 24 carries for the second time this postseason. Additionally, he extended his scoring streak to seven games, setting the stage for Super Bowl 58.

In the victory two weeks ago, he only managed to rush for 68 yards, his lowest total since Week 15. However, his complete participation in practice indicates that he will likely be ready to play against the 49ers.

In our Super Bowl rushing props and game leader predictions, we delve deeper into Pacheco’s perspective on Sunday’s game.

DT Chris Jones (Quad – Full)

Chiefs fans have expressed concern about Jones’ injury after the standout defensive tackle was limited in practice last week.

He fully participated in practice this week and dismissed any worries about his quad injury from earlier. If he plays on Sunday, he could have a great opportunity to have a big game against the vulnerable 49ers offensive line.

The defensive standout from Kansas City is one of the highlighted players in our Super Bowl sack odds.

WR Rashee Rice (Ankles – Limited)

The most unexpected news on Thursday’s injury report was Rice’s status changing from a full participant on Wednesday to a limited participant just three days before Super Bowl 58.

He participated fully on Friday and doesn’t have any injuries heading into Sunday’s game, making it the Chiefs rookie’s first Super Bowl appearance.

WR Skyy Moore (Knee – Full)

How to betBest odds (Over)Best odds (Under)
Total Chiefs with receptionsOver 7.5 (-115 via bet365)Under 7.5 (-115 via bet365)
Total players with receptionsOver 13.5 (+105 via DraftKings)Under 13.5 (+115 via BetMGM)

Moore has been absent from the field for almost two months, but the Chiefs brought the second-year wide receiver back from injured reserve on Wednesday, allowing him to fully participate in practice this week.

Kadarius Toney, his teammate, did not appear on the injury report after missing the same period, indicating that both he and Moore should be ready to play on Sunday.

Despite Moore likely playing, none of our top sports betting sites have posted receiving totals for him. However, he does have an enticing price in the Super Bowl longest plays odds. DraftKings is offering a +2200 odds for Moore to record the longest reception of the game.

49ers injury updates, odds for Super Bowl 58

TE George Kittle (Toe – Limited)

Kittle, the most prominent player on the 49ers’ injury report, did not practice last week due to a toe injury that coach Kyle Shanahan has been vague about.

When asked about the injury before Super Bowl 58, Kittle appeared unconcerned and participated in full practice on Friday. The 49ers seem to be anticipating both Kittle and teammate Deebo Samuel, who played through a shoulder injury in the NFC Championship but was not listed on this week’s injury report, to be ready for Sunday’s game.

Despite being healthy, Kittle will have a challenging matchup against the Chiefs defense, which we analyzed in more detail in our Super Bowl receiving props.

DT Arik Armstead (Knee / Foot – Limited)

Armstead has been absent from the 49ers lineup since Week 14, but his return for the Super Bowl is becoming increasingly probable with each passing day.

The player, who was a first-round pick in 2017, was among four San Francisco players with limited practice earlier in the week. However, he participated fully in practice on Friday. It appears that he will be making his second Super Bowl appearance on Sunday. In the previous Super Bowl meeting in 2020, he recorded three tackles and a quarterback hit in 57 snaps.

CB Ambry Thomas (Ankle – Limited)

Thomas has faced challenges in maintaining his performance during the latter part of the season, having undergone surgery for a broken hand in early January and later exiting the NFC Championship due to an ankle injury.

Thomas was limited in the first two practices of the week, but he was a full participant on Friday and is expected to start in the slot for the 49ers. He will be a key player for the San Francisco pass defense, which has had some difficulties in recent weeks.
