Saturday’s NHL player props
David Pastrnak anytime goalscorer (-105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
David Pastrnak has a special affinity for facing the Flyers, as he has scored an impressive 26 goals in 29 games against them. This is the most goals he has scored against any team, even though Philadelphia is not in the same division as the Boston Bruins.
The Flyers have been having difficulties on defense lately, particularly when facing top teams. They allowed seven goals to the Lightning and six goals to the Maple Leafs in the last week.
Pastrnak has scored in three consecutive games against the Flyers, including multiple goals in each game for a total of seven goals. Consider betting on him to score over 1.5 goals at +600 and even a hat trick at +3000.
I’m happy to bet on Pastrnak scoring again against the Flyers with an implied probability of 51.22%, especially considering his recent success with goals in three of his last four games.
Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 Points vs. Oilers (+120 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nathan MacKinnon has been driven this season to show that he is one of the best players in the game. Currently leading the league with 115 points (42 goals, 73 assists), he is the frontrunner for the Hart Trophy.
MacKinnon has tallied two or more points in 55.22% of his games this season, including the last five in a row. Despite these impressive stats, BetMGM gives him odds of +120, suggesting a probability of only 45.45%. The Avalanche are not anticipated to play a defensively tight game against the Oilers, as the Over is heavily favored with a total set at 6.5.
Fireworks are expected on Saturday night as MacKinnon goes head-to-head with Connor McDavid.
Saturday’s NHL game picks
Hurricanes ML vs. Maple Leafs (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Hurricanes made a big splash at the trade deadline by acquiring Jake Guentzel and Evgeny Kuznetsov. With these additions, Carolina now boasts two potent offensive lines and two solid checking lines to complete their roster.
The Canes have proven to be a top process-driven team this season, boasting the league’s second-best expected goals share at 5-on-5 (56.55%) according to Natural Stat Trick. This has contributed to their impressive 40-20-6 record (18-11-2 on the road). On the other hand, the Maple Leafs are sitting in the middle of the pack with a 50.95% expected goals share. Despite their recent strong performances, they may be vulnerable when playing at home tonight.
Carolina now has two reliable goalies in Frederik Andersen and Pytor Kochetkov, so the Canes playing on Sunday isn’t as concerning.
Additionally, with Mitch Marner still sidelined and Calle Jarnkrok joining the injured list, the Maple Leafs are facing further setbacks. As a result, the Hurricanes should be considered strong favorites, or at least have the edge, in their upcoming game in Toronto on Saturday.

Predators ML vs. Kraken (-120 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
We are choosing the Nashville Predators, a road team that is currently on a hot streak. The Preds have earned points in 13 consecutive games (11 wins and 2 overtime losses) and have a record of 12-2-2 since the All-Star break. They have also been successful on the road, boasting a 7-0-1 record in their last eight away games and an overall record of 20-10-3 on the season.
Despite a strong season last year, the Kraken have struggled to maintain their success this season. Seattle currently holds a record of 28-25-12 overall and 14-13-6 at home, with losses in their last three games.
The Predators have strong underlying metrics in their favor, with the seventh-best xGF% this season and fourth-best over the last 10 games. In contrast, the Kraken have the fifth-worst xGF% in their last 10 games, despite a 5-4-1 record.
The NHL’s top betting picks were made on Friday at 11:30 p.m. ET.
