Get ready for the first Game 7 of a Stanley Cup Final since 2019 as the Florida Panthers take on the Edmonton Oilers at Amerant Bank Arena on Monday. Stay tuned for our predictions for Oilers vs Panthers, based on the latest NHL odds.

This will be only the third time in NHL history that a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final has occurred after a team had a 3-0 series lead. The last instance was in 1945, when the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to fend off the Detroit Red Wings’ comeback attempt by winning Game 7 after losing the first three games.

The Florida Panthers aim to recreate their success in Monday’s Game 7, while the Edmonton Oilers hope to follow in their footsteps as the second team to win four consecutive games after losing the first three games to claim the Stanley Cup. Betway has Game 7 listed as a pick’em, with the game kicking off at 8 p.m. in Sunrise, Florida on ABC.

Despite their lead diminishing in the last week, the Panthers remain the slight favorites to win the Stanley Cup. After Game 4, they were heavily favored at -3333, but their odds have since decreased to -110 as they head into Game 7.

Alongside our player props for the Oilers vs. Panthers matchup, we offer our prediction and NHL picks for Game 7 of the series.

Oilers ML ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Both sides of the argument are strong when it comes to discussing the thrilling yet anxiety-inducing Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Just a week ago, the Oilers were written off entirely, with no one outside the team believing they could even make it to Game 6, let alone a final showdown for the championship and the fulfillment of their lifelong dreams.

The Oilers are now the tenth team in 211 tries to come back from a 0-3 series deficit and force a Game 7. Despite the momentum they are currently riding, history has not always been kind to teams entering Game 7 after three consecutive wins.

Out of the last nine teams to overcome a 0-3 series deficit, only four managed to achieve the comeback. The Los Angeles Kings were the most recent team to accomplish this in the first round of the 2014 playoffs against the San Jose Sharks. Under the guidance of coach Darryl Sutter, the Kings went on to win the Stanley Cup.

How the Oilers can complete the comeback and win the Stanley Cup

Despite the warning, I am confident in my prediction that the Oilers will be the fifth team to win the championship. I have consistently supported the Oilers in our analysis of the Stanley Cup Final Odds and Betting Preview. The Panthers’ 3-0 series lead did not accurately represent the games played on the ice. The Oilers outperformed the Panthers in expected goals in four out of six games and were the better team in Games 1 and 3, despite the outcomes.

Sergei Bobrovsky was the hero for the Panthers in their Game 1 victory, defying the odds against a dominant Oilers team. Despite MoneyPuck.com giving the Oilers a 92% chance of winning, Bobrovsky’s outstanding performance included 32 saves in a shutout and 5.7 goals saved above expected, showcasing his exceptional skills. This stellar showing elevated Bobrovsky to the top of the Conn Smythe odds leaderboard, although he has since been surpassed.

The Oilers struggled in Game 2 but bounced back nicely in Game 3, aside from a brief second-period lapse. The Panthers took advantage of errors by Oilers players to dominate the second period and secure Edmonton’s loss.

Game 7 records and what to expect

The Oilers’ resurgence was driven by a combination of factors, but it was Connor McDavid and Connor Brown who led the charge, reigniting the team’s momentum. McDavid’s record-breaking eight points in two games during the Stanley Cup Final, along with Brown’s key role in the Oilers’ shorthanded goals in Games 4 and 5, were instrumental in their success.

Skinner and Bobrovsky have traded places, with Skinner showing a newfound sense of calmness, composure, and self-assurance. Skinner has been flawless in Games 4 through 7 of the postseason, winning all 10 games and leading the Oilers to victory with a dominant 41-13 goal differential over their opponents.

The Oilers are receiving contributions from all players, especially those on the front line. Warren Foegele scored the important first goal in Game 6 and is currently on a four-game point streak. Adam Henrique and Ryan McLeod have recorded points in three of their last four games, while Mattias Janmark has three points in his past three games. Brown’s impressive performance on the penalty kill, which has successfully killed 46 of the last 47 penalties, has earned him well-deserved praise.

At the same time, the Panthers’ offense has been less aggressive than a tranquilized domestic feline. With only five goals scored in the last 10 periods, Florida’s forwards are not performing well at a crucial moment. None of the Panthers’ forwards managed to take a shot in the first half of Game 6.

Carter Verhaeghe has not scored since Game 1, with his assist on Barkov’s Game 6 goal being his only other point in this series. Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Reinhart each have one goal.

The Panthers have a 2-1 record in Game 7s, while the Oilers are 8-4 with a 1-1 record in Stanley Cup Final Game 7s. The most recent Cup Final Game 7 occurred in 2019, with the St. Louis Blues defeating the Boston Bruins 4-1 on the road. This victory marked the third consecutive Game 7 Stanley Cup Final win for the road team.

I believe the Oilers have what it takes to make a remarkable comeback in the next 60 minutes of hockey, solidifying their place in NHL history and finishing their fairy tale season with a flourish.

Under 5.5 goals ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It is more logical to bet on Game 7 to have five or fewer goals than to start your day with a strong cup of coffee. In Game 7s, the unders have a record of 44-26-9. This particular Game 7 is not an ordinary one, as if there is such a thing.

This game holds immense significance for many of these players, as it may be the most meaningful they will ever participate in. Both the Panthers and Oilers understand the gravity of the situation and will be fully dedicated to making safe defensive plays and avoiding any errors that could potentially cost them the Stanley Cup.

Both goalies are expected to be focused for this game. The Panthers need to play strong defense to avoid a humiliating defeat in the Stanley Cup Final, which hasn’t been seen since 1942. The Panthers have a good record in low-scoring games, but are .500 in games with more goals. The Oilers have been hitting the Under in most of their recent away games.

Furthermore, Game 6 seemed destined to have a low final score until the Panthers made a last-ditch effort by pulling Bobrovsky with just over 3 minutes left in the game. This move resulted in two empty-net goals by the Oilers, disappointing those who had bet on the Under and thrilling those who had bet on the Over. It is unlikely that a similar unlikely turn of events will occur in the final stages of Game 7. With -140 odds suggesting a 58.33% chance of winning, a $10 bet would result in a $7.14 profit if successful.

Betway offers the best odds at -140.
