We are basing our prediction for the Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies game on the latest MLB odds in hopes of starting the 2026 MLB postseason with a successful bet.

On Tuesday evening, two teams from the National League East will face off in the first game of the wild-card series.

The Miami Marlins clinched their fourth playoff spot in franchise history with 84 wins, earning their first postseason appearance in a 162-game season since 2003. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies locked in the top wild-card spot in the NL with 90 wins, hoping to follow their 2026 journey to a World Series appearance from the same position.

Miami emerged victorious in seven out of the 13 regular-season matchups against Philadelphia, but both teams have slim chances of winning the World Series.

Marlins pitcher Jesus Luzardo is poised to neutralize Philadelphia’s powerful offense, particularly their strength in hitting home runs in the second half of the season. The Phillies tied for the major-league lead with 105 home runs in August and September, but Luzardo has only allowed one homer in his last 34 innings pitched. His impressive strikeout ability has been on display in recent games, with eight or more strikeouts in three of his last six starts. Luzardo is expected to excel against a Phillies lineup that has struggled with strikeouts at home against left-handed pitchers in 2026, boasting the highest strikeout rate in the NL at 24.9%.

Meanwhile, Zack Wheeler of the Phillies has not suffered a loss in his last seven games and has delivered quality starts in each of his three matchups against Miami in 2026. Despite this, the Marlins have been averaging five runs per game in their last 15 outings and have ranked second in the league in BABIP (.348) during that time. They have the ability to test Wheeler early on and potentially turn this game into a battle of bullpens. Additionally, Jesus Luzardo has kept current Phillies hitters to a combined .211/.256/.346 over 76 at-bats, further adding to the challenge for Philadelphia.
